Re: Sunscreen VS Helix 7....Any solutions??

My rep didn't have any answers but he did suggest to try this number. 1 800 633 1468. It's the consumer technical service at Humminbird. If anyone had the answer, they would. You might have to sit on hold for a bit. Ed Thanks for checking with your rep Ed. I gave them a call, by the sounds of it I'...

Last resort? https://www.amazon.ca/Mothers-06112-Black-Plastic-Restorer/dp/B00GZLMEN4 Try on the back to see how it reacts to the plastic first. I've used this before on cars and it works well. Possibly....I have other similar compounds laying around, something to think about. I may be better off j...

Re: Sunscreen VS Helix 7....Any solutions??

I cannot see your pic (blocked at work) but I would try the following: On the textured plastic casing, try a solution of dish soap (Dawn recommended) and warm water. Use an old toothbrush to really work it into the tiny little textured bumps. Wipe with a damp (not sopping wet) cloth a few times. Th...

Re: Sunscreen VS Helix 7....Any solutions??

I will call my rep tomorrow to see if he has any ideas. I would guess one of those Armorall wipes, but would be nervous about getting any on the screen. It has an anti-glare coating on it that you don't want to remove. Ed That'd be awesome Ed, I truly appreciate it. I did try the armour all...no di...

Sunscreen VS Helix 7....Any solutions??

Problem, I installed a brand spankin' new Humminbird Helix 7 this year, and on day friggin' one out on the water, I decided to do the responsible thing (I could hear my better half in my head, PUT ON SUNSCREEN) which I rarely do. Well, while I've avoided any nasty skin cancer, I didn't avoid getting...

Re: The End of Cabela's? Let the speculation begin....

Whose to say what would or could happen. Hence the "speculation" in the title of the thread. I'm all about having more choices available, It would be a shame if they just swallowed up Cabela's and for it to not exist anymore, competition is healthy....it is also possible that BPS buys Cabe...

Re: Mississippi Lake questions

I know there is a launch at Johns Marina which is right on 9th Line, I've never used it, so not sure if there is a fee or not. Baitcasters offers a launch as well on Hardwood Road just off Concession 7, for a fee. I've always used the free launch at the Mississippi Bird/Wildlife Sanctuary, (1091 Con...

Re: Downrigger rod and reel advice

I own the Shimano TDR as well, running an Okuma Magda Pro MA 30DLX reel on it...have to say love both rod and reel, not to mention relatively inexpensive...certainly did the trick on the opener for me this year with one 5.5lb'er and one 8lb'er. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag43/jdf76/_JDF1209...

Re: Using Vexilar FLX-28 (or any flasher) on open water

Thanks for the few replies guys, appreciate it. A little surprised that not many had much to say about it, I'm guessing most guys just don't use flashers in open water. Alls good though, I'm going to give it a whirl either way as is (without buying a conversion kit) Vexilar did get back to me, most ...

Using Vexilar FLX-28 (or any flasher) on open water

I'm curious to know if anyone really uses their ice fishing flasher in open water? I do have a proper Lowrance Sonar/HDI for open water but was thinking about utilizing my flasher. I tried doing a little research on it but didn't have a whole lot of luck, was just getting redirected to ice fishing f...

"This past week was yet another piece of evidence that the use of a flasher 100% of the time gives you an edge on the ice." "Without knowing what was happening under the ice as it was all going down this fish likely would have never made the photo shoot. Glad she did." "Ame...

Re: RJnBirdees Annual Panfish Derby- Feb 14th

Hey friends, I know this is a long shot, but either way worth a try. During yesterday's Panfish Derby the front licence plate on my truck was torn off after hitting a large snow bank. The snowbank in question was located right at the registration area, more specifically in very close proximity to wh...
