Re: Fall fishing? 'S.O.S

We fished the St. Lawrence last Thursday 10/6 - Sunday 10/9 from the NY side. Lots of smallmouth daily with 90% brought on board in the 4- 6 lb class. All bass were caught either on tubes(3/8oz w/ some sort of brown), black or PB/Jelly Ned, drop shot, or live crab. Shoals off deep water/channel in 1...

Re: Charleston Lake

That 11 lber made for quite a fight and happened long before our current clear water set up of braid connected to a fluro leader, so a lot more stretch with the Berkley 8 or 10lb mono XL we were using. She went back in to the depths upon release. We've also caught nice northerns off Babcock's as wel...

Re: Charleston Lake

Our biggest pike in Charleston was a hair over 11lbs, and came off the deep side of Englishman's on a 4" Motor Oil Berkley power worm while fishing for SM.

Re: Fishing Walleye in the St Lawrence River

Seems like every summer and fall SM trip to the Larry yields at least one eye in the 7 - 10lb class. Last August my youngest hooked and landed this brute herself on my sons old blue 5' closed face Zebco on the first drift of the week! https://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a5d701b3127cceea7d058aee810000...

Re: Rigger fishing for Lakers ?

Over the decades, we've had a LOT of luck with Lakers trolling simple bronze/gold spoons on riggers around Big Water on Charleston Lake(Athens) in the summer/early fall in the heat of the day taking a break from SM fishing. With flashers and without. Best of luck!

Re: Merc Trim Issue?

Thanks guys.

Yep, same results on all 3 switches(bow, throttle and the main one on the motor).

I have not bled the air. Is that an easy task?

Merc Trim Issue?

Hello. Have been having issues over the past few years with the trim on my 50 hp Merc 2 stroke. Trim down is always fine, trim up is always the problem. I've purchased and installed 2 new trim relays on the blue wire relay and the up function is still hit or miss, eventually goes up, but is never co...

Re: Tube Jighead help.

Have been using 5/16 or 3/8 on 4" tubes to great success on the St. Lawrence for years. The heads themselves are long thin tear drops in shape. Even in shallower water the SM don't seem to care how heavy the head is, and very very few misses. Hard to find, I purchase from Wacky Worm out of PA w...

Onboard Chargers?

Am in need of a new on board charger for my boat. Old one was a Cabela's 2 bank that died without warning. Any suggestions on make? I really don't want to break the bank and liked the plug and charge aspect rather then having to remove batteries and charge individually. Thanks for your suggestions. ...

Re: Larry 10/23 - 10/26

Agreed RJ. We've spent the last 20 years all over fishing for SM. From the St. Lawrence to Champlain to lakes throughout Canada and NY State and the SM fishery in the Larry smokes all of them every time IMO. Not sure why we ever go anywhere else.

LOL. All pictures have been withheld to protect the innocent (and our honey hole). The 5lb 7oz in the above pic went back to make more smalljaws.

Larry 10/23 - 10/26

Went back for our third (and final) 2014 trip to the Larry last Thursday thru Saturday. As always, the more wind and cloud cover the better the SM fishing. Water was around 56- 57 degrees each day and from my estimation was down 2 - 3 feet since we were up in August which made getting to the dock pr...

Re: Charleston lake bass

Have been fishing there since the late 1980's with our dad and continued after he passed away. Our recent experience has been the bass fishing at Charleston, at least in the fall, has been way way down for the last decade. Especially compared to fishing in the early 90's thru mid-2000's which was ho...
