Laker bait-re Niagara fishing

Congrats on coming up with the idea of using sausage for bait when nothing else was working. Some very nice fish indeed. Along the same line....a few years ago I was reading an article about jigging for lakers and the preferred bait was fresh uncooked chicken breast. Unfortunately I can't recall the...

Laker bait

Re Fishing Niagara bar - Some very nice fish fellows. Congrats on trying sausage for bait. Along the same line.... Although I no longer have the reference ....fresh chicken breast cut into minnow like shapes is another bait that has been used very successfully when jigging for lakers Its worth a try...

Right on the money Moosebunk.... Everyone should consider at least one fishing trip of a lifetime. Luckily I have family in the area {Chilliwack] and I can attest to the great fishing in the Fraser and surrounding rivers..... Huge red and white springs {chinooks}, wonderful tasting sockeye salmon {i...

I just reread your post. Boats do not fish the whirlpool. Fishing is strictly from shore and it is dangerous particularily at this time of year. You might consider fishing at Queenston. You can drive to the fishing area and there will probably be a few guys shore fishing who will help you out. Most ...

Hi Troutseeker; Welcome on board. I fish the Pool often and have reasonable success. However the guys with the 13 foot poles, center pin reels and 4 pound test leaders do much better than me. Floating fresh roe with 2 or 3 eggs is generally the preferred technique in clear water. Bigger bags are Ok ...

Tough bass

Perhaps some thoughts from all the 'pro' bass fishers. Fished the local Welland River from my canoe and I could see the bass schooled up beside the pilings.. I threw everything I could at them and they weren't interested. Actually I didn't use any live bait. The bass were like pets and just hung aro...

Yes, It does work. Simply hi-light the url and copy it, then paste it in the address bar. Many thanks to my daughter Penny for putting this together. By the way, she's the blonde in the album with the big Spring (chinook). Haven't posted any captions. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to do t...

Nicely done moosebunk; It is truely amazing the fish that are available in BC. Catching and landing a six foot sturgeon is a feat in itself and catching a large spring and having to chase it in the boat is also a great thrill. If any of you fisher people get the chance to fish BC try to get here whe...

I was very luck to be introduced to this site and met many great anglers. Laketrout took me salmon fishing in Lake Ontario and we caught lots of salmon. Very successful. I then went to Wiskey lake with him and we caught lots of lake trout. Very sucessful. Being somewhat competitive, the vertual derb...
