Re: Trout in Ottawa

Just checked fish-online and while there is no stocking info on the city section of the Ottawa river, browns are on the species list.

Re: Trout in Ottawa

The only places trout swim in the City of Ottawa, are the tanks at T&T store and the Ottawa river. Rainbows at the T&T, and browns in the Ottawa. Browns have been stocked in the past below Deschenes rapids and have heard they might be caught if lucky along the Ottawa river parkway in fast wa...

I believe that the intent of the rule, or as it is often refered to, "the spirit of the law", aside from definitive interpretations,is that the angler himself be involved in the setting of the hook. Any attempt to fish without direct involment of the individual acting directly on the line...

Unfortunately the "spirit" or "intent" of the law means very little. Laws prohibiting the use of live bait, written in order to prevent invasive species still apply to guys who catch their bait in the lake they fish. The fine costs the same. Nonetheless, I find this discussion v...

Anyone hear about the soon to be released Kistler Kristian? How's the full Liberal movement doin' today? How dare anyone deride this mans belief in the God of Abraham. If this man wants to give credit to his value system who are you to judge? I fully support the values that were expressed by Mr. Ki...

Best by far a Little Cleo in a blue/silver wrinkle finish at 1/2 ounce. Remove the treble and add a single hook!

Dude! Forsure on the wallys at that local. Anywhere from the Island down to the locks and over to the old rail bridge is MINTY! 8 TO AS MUCH AS 14 LBS IS POSSIBLE. As for anyone who hasn't fished these spots, if you doubt me try and prove it wrong. The Ottawa river is huge and is full of big fish. T...

Why frozen? You can get minnows on the Foymount road just as you leave Eganville. Little place on the right at a house in the guys garage.

Good luck

Took a couple of nice fish last year on the slip rig, they hate it when the bait just hangs in their face and nothing does it better in deep water. Use minnows if the water is cold.

If the fish are stocked you can't beat a small gang harness with corn on a single hook. As far as I can understand the yellow color combined with the hatchery fish being fed corn and fishmeal makes it a viable option. Rainbows prefer cold water so I'd say they'd be deep right now. Fish

Steamer, you can count on the fish being out in front of the lodge 'cause that's where the fishermen are. Right now the wally are on the bottom in 45'+ of water and rising when the sun sets to feed over the deep water. Try longline trolling large stickbaits i.e. rap taildancers or husky jerks. It's ...

It's a white bass if it's from the Ottawa. Used to fish the river hard back in the early 70's and caught all kinds of fish you don't see alot of now. White bass, drum, pickerel (chain), mooneye, whitefish, american eel, bowfin, ling, garpike, waterdogs, etc. Just because they arn't caught often does...

Jason, they're easy to trap using a minnow funnel trap. Put any meat,i.e. hot dog, leftover piece of steak, in the trap and place in a likely locale and wait. As for not eating them as long as the water is clean why not. Search the web for crawdad recipies and you'll get thousands of hits. Cajun coo...

The sad fact of the matter is that no matter how much crap is in the water the flesh of the fish is still safe to eat! Joco is right about the chemicals and meds going into the water being a bigger problem. All the urine of people on meds likley has a greater effect on river wildlife than hundreds o...
