Re: Constance Lake Ice Fishing

Thanks Smitty! Went out a couple days ago, and there was enough ice to stand on!

Re: Constance Lake Ice Conditions?

Went out a couple of days ago; about 4-5 inches of clear ice, with 3 inches of white ice! Fishing was uneventful, but it was the first time fishing that body of water =)

Constance Lake Ice Fishing

Has anyone checked out the ice at Constance Lake recently? I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to ice fishing (I've only been out to Shirley's bay a few times for hardwater), so I'm just looking for a few pointers on when everything usually freezes up!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Renfrew/Arnprior Boat Launches

Hey everyone! I'm heading up to Renfrew this weekend, but I've never been there before. I'm planning on bringing my motorized canoe, so I was just wondering if anyone knows of any good launches near that area? Is it possible for me to launch at Portage du Fort? What about Braeside? Which would have ...

Re: Pre-frontal Bonanaza!

Great catches! We landed over 10 pike in a few hours before the sun came up, and we found that the key to enticing strikes was really aggressive rip jigging! Perhaps downsizing had an effect too, who knows! Were you catching those Pike in the dark? Rod Sorry, I should have been more clear - the sun...

Pre-frontal Bonanaza!

Got out on the water for a few hours on Saturday evening and Sunday morning at Shirley's Bay. I knew it was going to be productive fishing because there was rain forecasted (pre-cold front conditions). Decided to fish a few hours before the storms hit, and it was some of the best fishing I've ever h...

Re: Tired of the followers...

Same deal, 2 hrs just follows, but then, buddy and I sorta got lines crossed and i reeled in stupid quick to get out of his way, and finally got a pike on? O.k so we started fast retrieves, 7 fish in the next hour? Mind you the sun also went down a little that may also have changed things. I second...

Re: Walleye & Pike Opener - Quality, but not quantity!

Hey guys we were talking to you Saturday morning from the big, old orange Coleman 17! We never did get a pike, but did get a couple of very nice walleye, about the same size as yours. Caught and released. They seemed scattered though, get one, move on... And yeah, it was a REALLY good idea to get o...

Re: Walleye & Pike Opener - Quality, but not quantity!

Lindying would be good for rigging alongside weedbeds. If you're set on fishing the weeds, perhaps a slip bobber set up with a leech would be a better option for you. Leeches are like candy to walleye. Thank you for the tips! Now I just gotta get myself some leeches... I wonder if I could just wade...

Re: Walleye & Pike Opener - Quality, but not quantity!

Thanks for all the positive feedback! FYI ....I believe you are a bit early on your walleye and Pike season opener. Yes, I was fishing in Zone 18, where walleye and pike opened on Saturday - Sorry if I wasn't being clear! Nice double shot dude! ........morning was a beauty yesterday, after...

Walleye & Pike Opener - Quality, but not quantity!

Went out at 6:30am to fish walleye & pike opener. Got on the water by 7:30am, and my first thought was: "This weather is great - not too windy nor rainy. Looks like a great morning for fishing!" Two hours later - after searching through several weedbeds using spinnerbaits, spooks, and ...

Re: Calabogie camping - permits required?

Thanks for the replies everyone! We ended up camping on one of the more easily accessible lakes in the area. We had no problems, but the fishing was less than spectucular (skunked for trout both days). The view however, was absolutely breathtaking!

Re: Northern pike questions

To target pike specifically, I would personally use a spinnerbait. I've heard rumours that gold blades tend to attract bass more so than pike, but with a spinnerbait, you're gonna get bass biting no matter what. Personally, I feel I've caught more pike on spinnerbaits than bass though! With regards ...

Re: Skunked by crappie again!

I've been out quite a few times last year and this year, and I've had my fair share of skunks. I sorta figured them out last weekend, and I think the general pattern is to look for very sheltered areas (eg. long bays, creeks, or marinas that extend from the ridea river). I found that the creeks that...

Re: Calabogie camping - permits required?

Thanks for the insight! Just wondering, how does parking work? Is it legal to just park somewhere off the road?
