I had the same thing a few years ago with my Johnson 150. It would idle fine but as soon as it went into gear it would stall. It turned out to be a loose screw on a throttle cable under the cowling. It was fixed in like 10 seconds and didn't require any parts. :D

There are no trout in the Bay during July & August. You're best bet if you plan on trolling would be to go to Wellington or Presquile. From there you could trailer to the Bay for Walleye and fish Lake Ontario when it is calm for trout. If you are talking about brook trout and that kind of stuff,...

Rice has some good places too. I've stayed at Golden Beasch Resort before and it was nice. They have cottages, camping and I believe a larger Hotel like building too.

Navionics makes a reader for their cards. I don't remember the actual name, but you can find out more info about it at there webpage. Also any Navionics dealer (Paddletales for example) could get you this accessory. I just found the info at the Navionics site, here is the link: http://www.navionics....

Stop by Lowrances website and download a 334 emulator and you can play with it on your computer and learn it that way. You can even get a Navionics reader and put your cards in it and view them on your computer or in your emulator.

I'd double check the age on that motor, it looks more like an 87 to me. I looked at a 40 horse a couple of weeks ago and it was an 87 and it looked just like that one. There should be a metal plate on the engine somewhere with the year on it.

I would reccomend an Eagle Fishmark 320. I had one on my old boat and it was a great unit for the price plus it worked really well when I was trolling in the fall for suspended eye's on the Bay of Quinte.

Whaever, like all internet discussion boards everyone is an expert at everything. Whether I have setup 1 boat or 20 years worth of boats is irrelevant. I will stop posting on this thread now as my experience is 1/20th of yours I'll let the experts handle it. Good Luck meanmuskie, apparently y...

Well Mike I do believe I told meanmuskie about the rpm's at least twice in earlier posts: "You should see your RPM's and speed increasing as you lift your motor. When your pressure starts to drop and your rooster tail is getting higher than the top of the engine cowling after trimming, Stop! Lo...

That's a good point Sheldon. A hydraulic plate would always be the best choice for anyone looking to get the best performance out of their hull, be it a glass, aluminum, walleye or bass boat. The ability to raise and lower your engine on the fly to suit water conditions is the key. Usually once the ...
