Re: Carp fishing questions?
I'm looking forward to doing some carp hunting this summer with a compound bow. They're good garden fertilizer, but I have only herd of asians eating them. My friend has a vietnamese neighbour that eats all the carp he kills. Interesting that they have a unique way of preparing them!

Re: Ice Fishing Near Perth
Thanks Gord! I was considering Pike Lake but since the launch is down the creek I was worried about the ice conditions. I've heard it's FULL of ling, which would be fun to catch but drives a lot of locals crazy. I'll have to look into Otty, never fished it before.

Ice Fishing Near Perth
Hi all, With the nice weather coming this weekend I'm going up to my Cottage on Black Lake to do some ice fishing. I'm looking to explore some other lakes around Perth and I was wondering if there are any lakes nearby with public access and good ice fishing. I usually target crappie, perch and walle...

Re: Shirley's bay 2016
Just a heads up, from March 1-June 15 walleye/sauger must be under 40cm (15.7 inches) to be kept. Pretty much nobody out there knew about it last year, hopefully it's a little better this year!

Re: Shirley's bay 2016
I was talking to one lad on the ice who told me that someone from the MNR told him to kill all the ling he caught since they were invasive and affected walleye stocks. I find this ridiculous. Ling are not invasive, nor do they impact walleye stocks. :| :| I know one thing about ling though......THE...

Re: Shirley's bay 2016
Been a slow year at Shirley's for me. I was out saturday from 4-6 and caught one 14 inch walleye and a few dinks. Left a little earlier than planned as I wasn't in a hut and didn't dress warmly enough. Seems like there are more perch around this year. Those little ones are a real pain. I was talking...

I had 4 PBs this week also! 315lb deadlift x 6 40lb dumbbell side lateral raises x 6 275lb flat bench x 5 225lb squats x 8 All done between 10:45 and 11:30! I hope you this wasn't done after you injected "WEED" into your veins. Nope. I'm a good Christian and I don't inject marijuanas I do...

Nice fish man! Just an FYI for those who don't know, the limit is 2 for conservation license and 5 for a sportfishing license. I've seen a few people keeping over their limit on the ice this year without knowing it.

Re: Shirley's bay 2016
Nice to see some good sized fish being caught! It's been a tough year so far for me. Been out saturday each of the last two weekends with no keepers so far. A couple of perch, small sauger and walleye but nothing over 12 inches. I also tend not to keep perch from Shirley's as I find kept some once a...

Re: after years of trecking through the bush....
Wow!! Beautiful speckles!! Gotta love fishing like this in December. Also props on the release! They'll have a much better chance of survival if you hold them horizontally rather than vertically through the gills. Those have to be biggest Ontario specks I've seen a picture of in recent time, congrat...

Re: Muskrat
Can't comment on the fishing but I read an article last week about the algal bloom on the lake http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/muskrat-lake-residents-seek-help-in-fight-against-annual-algae-scourge . Sad to hear, it's a beautiful lake. I was in Algonquin Park for Canada day weekend and they...

Re: Oh Joy Oh Joy
Hi CN, I guess I should have been more specific. By holding them horizontally with two hands you can keep the vertebrae straighter. Holding them with one hand horizontally as mentioned is what I was vaguely referring to as the "Mike Iaconelli" pose and is the worst for them. Does lipping b...
