Re: Oh Joy Oh Joy

No offense Lenny but thinking the MNR would even contemplate such a thing is a but much. One thing with studies is that you can start with a result and build a study to get to that result. If every Bass held vertically had its jaw broken and could no longer eat we'd have no fish left anywhere due t...

Re: Oh Joy Oh Joy

I will clear it up for you Thanks for clearing that up. Correct me if I’m wrong, but first and foremost, you’d highly appreciate if tournament executives reach out to the municipality in order to communicate the tournament dates/time in order for recreational anglers and pleasure crafters to be awa...

Re: Oh Joy Oh Joy

I think this is a good conversation. I think anyone who actually thinks that tournaments don't have any negative effects is lying to themselves. Not only is it not good for the fish, but the pollution from the boats, garbage from using soft plastics ect.. all has an effect on the environment. That ...

Re: First Year Hunting

Out4Trout- Thanks so much! Great advice. Good to know about shooting within range and the etiquette side of it. From my experience in the outdoors I definitely know what you mean about wood ducks being skittish. (except the ones at Mud Lake) Troutskii- Looking forward to exploring! I'm a trout fishe...

First Year Hunting

Hi All, Just a few questions from a first year hunter. I've done plenty of reading and I have spent lots of time outdoors but have a few questions. I plan on hunting mallards and ruffed grouse to get started. I have read some info about American Black Ducks and Wood Ducks being frowned upon to shoot...

Re: I am done

I completely disagree with your stance on Asian anglers. The ones I have seen on the Rideau, Dow's Lake and the Ottawa River are like encyclopaedias when it comes to fish identification and the regulations. Most are 100% catch and release and fish barbless. Out of season bass can never be found in t...

Re: Lake Trout Fishing From Canoe

Thanks everyone! I'll let you know how it goes. I'm looking forward to it! (except the 5km portage). And if anyone is going to be doing that route this weekend feel free to stop by the campsite with 10 goons on it for some whiskey!

Lake Trout Fishing From Canoe

Hi all, I'm heading on a canoe trip to Algonquin Park with 9 friends (Opeongo/proulx/big crow/crow river/laveille/dickson/opeongo) and was wondering if anyone has any tips how to get 30-40 feet while trolling in the canoe. Right now I'm thinking a 3-way rig but it looks like it would create a lot of...

Re: SPL- Soft Plastic Lures

The day that changed using plastics was fishing a stretch of the bonnechere with my friends. By the end of the weekend you could see senkos littered everywhere. Most of my friends aren't experienced fishermen so we lost more than I usually would but it was sad to see a remote stretch of river litter...

Re: SPL- Soft Plastic Lures

Yep! No doubt about it that these are causing lots of problems. I stopped using senkos for this reason. Great post Smitty!

Re: Kingston ontario trout help

Trout_83 is right on the money with Bing Retreat. It's a little pricey but if accessibility is a problem it's perfect. Beautiful lake and lots of nice fish, doesn't have the 'stocked pond' feeling of a lot of pay to play lakes either. Other than that, Shiner Lake in Calabogie has lots of small stock...

Re: Spinning Rods? who uses them still???

Those Shimano guys! They clearly do not know the power of the dark side! :D ;) But the Japanese "Shimano guys" know the power of the dark side. Like I said before .... quality finesse bait-casters are expensive. Not even going to talk about Daiwa and Megabass finesse spools. http://www.ja...
