Re: Walleye Upper Rideau Lake

I would tanget sharp breaklines leading into deep water. Also try finding rock piles in 30ft of water and try hugging or rigging them.

Re: The Value of Large Walleye

I’m the firm believer that the Americans have adapted to the changes with the water clarity and invasive species, whereas we keep on doing the same techniques that our elders have taught us. Also I believe that since the introduction of Zebra Mussels there have been a few generations of anglers that...

Re: prop pitch

Assuming that the engine is running properly then i’d Look at your motor height. Running on plane you should be able to see your cavitation plate ontop of the water. A quick way to set it is to have the cavitation plate sitting about 1/2” to 1” above bottom of hull.

Re: The Value of Large Walleye

I’ve read countless articles that suggest that the 20-26” walleye are the prime breeders. Apparently while these smaller fish carry considerably less eggs, they are supposed to be more fertile. I personally don’t keep anything over 22” where legal to do so, I like to release the big hens to help out...

Re: Little Rideau Walleye

There are Walleye in the Little Rideau, 100% yes. Thru the stocking they have done over the years, no evidence of reproduction so you'd be bumping into "over" the limit sized fish. Recent netting surveys proved this that they trapped only 2 year classes of fish that happen to be those tha...

Little Rideau Walleye

How’s the Little Rideau doing these days in regards to the walleye population? I’ve been away from the area for 20 years and the wife and I are looking at buying a cottage in the area. Wolfe lake is on our list also. Any other suggestions?

Re: Favorite Prensentation for River Walleye

Dragging jigs tipped with a leech or crawler, usually about .3 mph into the current and .4 ish faster than the current when going with it. Lindy Rig with a leech back trolling into current or drifting with current. Trolling deep diving crankbaits into current. And finally trolling a floating Rapala ...

Re: skootamatta, big gull, kennebec -where would you go?

Skoot and Gull can kick out some decent waves depending on the wind. Another lake to throw in the mix would be Crotch. Guys say there's no walleye in there, but I've always had awesome success. Very beautiful lake that always reminds me of LOTW. Sand (Plevna) lake is decent too, there is a channel c...

Re: Cabelas... Whatchya Think?

One nice thing about Cabela'sis that they hold seminars on weekends fairly often, wether you're a hunter for fisherman. Also their Guidewear clothing is top notch, expensive yes but wait till it comes on sale. Lots of times it goes on sale for 50-60% off.

Re: Got a question? Let's hear it!

Question for the walleye guys that fish rivers. I've been told when Lindy Rigging in rivers for walleye that I need to use a 7-8ft snell. I consider myself above average walleye angler but have limited river experience. I would think maybe a shorter snell, say 4-5 ft would be better? Reason being th...

Re: Claybank launch robbers are at it again

I would be really suprised if charges would be laid on the suspect(s) even if caught on camera. Even if charges were laid, there's a good chance the judge will throw the case out of court. This is why the police concentrate on handing out tickets now days. They know the scum make their way back onto...

Re: Kayak Fishing in Lanark

There is another public ramp onto Crotch Lake just off the Ardoch Rd. I think you would have better success for bass there if that's what you're into. Crotch reminds of Lake of the Woods scenery wise.

Re: Fizzed traveler and a wishbone fish

That's awesome that you got to witness first hand the benefits of fizzing. There's a lot of controversy out there in regards to the procedure, and how long the fish live fore after it's been done. Now you can tell the naysayers to pound sand.

This is how your engine should look running down the lake.

Re: boat is porposing

Did they raise the engine up at all? Kinda hard to cavitate with the plate below the waterline. My cavitation plate is 2.5" above the bottom of the hull on my rig. Every rig is different I know.
