Re: algonquin park
Camped at Mew Lake there this week. Everything is still iced over, some run-off streams are flowing but most lakes, including Opeongo are still iced over. Couple guys out ice fishing still, I wasn't that crazy though. Most big water has ice broken off from shore. Shouldn't be too much longer.

Re: Shirleys Hardwater Decline
The fish just deeper? Like I said earlier we used to have good success mid day. And shirleys was great for being out on a Saturday and enjoying with everyone but the 10am-2pm fishing has gone dead for me over the last 3 years. I don't think I've actually pulled anything other than a here or there pe...

Shirleys Hardwater Decline
Hey guys, Been steadily fishing shirleys bay through the ice for 7-10 years and have seen some considerable drop off in fish caught, especially over the last 3 years. The *anything but dusk* walleye are less and less common I am finding. The thing is though, I haven't seen too much of a drop off in ...

Re: Pike in Rideau River
Tons... anywhere from 2 to 15lbs. Extremely dependent on water levels, temperature and time of year. Stretch from Kemptville - Manotick usually gets slower as the season drags on.

Re: A day out on Rideau (river conditions)
Was out just prior to pike/walleye opener and conditions were similar. We were mostly touring to see conditions and scout some spots and came across a couple in distress across from the Manotick launch. At first it was a wave, then we realised they were flagging us down. I guess they bought a second...

Re: Procedure with OOS fish
Mentioned previously that MNR have shown up after a picture was posted to the internet. How do they determine when the fish was caught, couldn't defence always be that it was years past? Or is it usually that the poster mentioned the date of catch in post?

Procedure with OOS fish
Hey Guys, with Pike & Walleye set to open soon, I was just wondering a couple of things. Obviously you can't always avoid OOS fish but if I'm fishing a white Big-O for walleye and the MNR show up, am I in trouble? Also, if I hook a bass by accident and its a big fish or has some cool features to...

Re: Shirley's Bay Fishing Derby - Family Day Weekend
I advise whoever is hosting to contact Cabela's in Kanata. They typically love this kind of thing and are willing to kick in small prizes or some cash. I should be out depending on work as well.

Muskrat Ice Derby 2017
http://www.cobdencivitanclub.ca/services.html
One of the best ice fishing tournaments in the area. Hopefully the turn out and weather is good. Also hoping that the fish pick my hut that day.
How many of you guys will I see out?

Re: Quick question - Pike
Been fishing pike 18 years and have more success without leaders then I do with. 15lbs fluro is a personal preference. Usually bad knots are the reason pike get off.

Slow Start to the Season
Fished the Rideau system from 6am-4pm Saturday and had only one notable all day. Brought in by my buddy out near Kemptville. Launched in Kars and made our way all the way to the 416 bridge with some OOS fish hitting Meps 5s. Seeing similar results for this weekend all over, hoping it all picks up fo...

Re: Shirley's bay 2016
Was out yesterday and it was a quiet day, only a couple small perch. Where is the west-end fishing community getting their live bait from? Have used Bits and Baits in Stittsville for years but unfortunately not anymore. Are people making the trip out to Manotick?
