I did hear about the Rapids in Bouchette being really good!
I think that around where my cottage is there isn't much. We practically have to go up river towards those rapids or down river towards lac ste marie.

Re: Looking for Gatineau River Catfish around Kirk's Ferry
Oh Cool! I will definitely try that. I will use a bunch of cut up suckers from the ice fishing season on a circle hook. I'm excited! I know what you mean about the rocks. They are unreal. We should start putting buoys at some point! That's funny you mention sturgeon in Kaz. A friend of my dad's was ...

Re: What are you looking forward to trying this year - part
Looking forward for a top-water day so I can catch them on my new yo-zuri mirror floating Jerkbait. I tried it on pike opening, but all they wanted to eat was my confidence bait for pike (rapala Husky Jerk 14, Glass Minnow). Also, this is going to sound weird, but I bought 2 jitterbugs last year (on...

Looking for a Decent 7.1:1 Baitcaster
To give you a brief of what quality level I am used to fishing with, I currently have a Abu Revo SX 6.4:1 and I actually like it quite a bit.
Now I am shopping around for a faster reel (7.1:1), so if anyone has anything they are looking to sell, please let me know!
Thanks
Nic

Re: Looking for Gatineau River Catfish around Kirk's Ferry
Thanks CPrince! I've only been on this forum a few days, but I have to say Kudos to everyone for not being snobby about fishing spots/newcomers. You guys are awesome! That being said, farm point is easily accessible from the boat drop in Kirk's Ferry. It's on the same stretch and only about 5 km up ...

It's a cover up, man. I think it's best we all get ready for an alien invasion!RJ wrote:I was sent this pic this aft. The MNR did comment saying it's a tube jig that has been in that fishes belly for some time.

Re: perch follows... no joy
fish bright yellow and small Also, the weekend was on the back end of a cold front so fish were lethargic. It was pike opening on Friday and we had a lot of follows that didn't bite (thankfully we still ended up getting a few). I can't comment on their spawing and feeting habits because I don't know.

Re: Frog Rods
I use with a loomis GL-2 Jig and worm. It's 200$ and in my opinion it's more than stiff enough, but that's the perspective of a working class person who can't afford to have 12 different bass rods I also use it for jigging and jerkbaits.

Re: Looking for Gatineau River Catfish around Kirk's Ferry
What about Suckers and Ciscoes? I have a bunch left over from ice fishing and I know we are allowed to fish them when dead... would catfish bite on that? Now, if we look at the image below, is there a place in particular you would want to try fishing? Do I necessarily go for bays away from the curre...

Looking for Gatineau River Catfish around Kirk's Ferry
Hi guys! This is my first post aside from my introduction post. I understand no one is just going to give fishing spots to a newbie, but I was hoping maybe you guys could help me with some guidelines. I have no experience with bottom fish, only with bass and pike, so any tips would be extremely appr...
