northern Quebec lakers
Just got back from my family's camp up the north shore of Quebec (near Forestville). Another successful week of fishing specks and lakers. Here are pics of two lakers I caught jigging in 60 feet of water, right at the bottom. I got both with Rapala jigging raps. Those lures are deadly!

Re: Laker time of day
I concur, you can catch them in the evening. I just got back from my family's annual northern Quebec trip. We always go to this one spot on a particular lake at around 6 pm and fish until dusk (8:30 or so). We regularly catch nice lakers at that time, always jigging. I will post a couple of the pics...

Re: Can Lake Trout be caught on trout-nuggets, trout paste?
Vertical jigging is the way to go for lakers in summer, IMO. Good tips up above regarding staying over the fish found on the sonar (I've used drift sock with good results) and using your sonar's sensitivity to see your lure/bait and the lakers ascending for it. I don't think a Mepps Cyclops would be...

bassJuly2016.jpg I haven't posted in a long time. Been lurking a while but figured I should start contributing again given how much enjoyment and knowledge I get from this site. Here's a good largie I caught on the Miss out of Appleton last Saturday morning. I always enjoy my runs on the Miss. A re...

Costco all the way! They perform well and Costco has the most liberal return policy of any retailer in the history of the universe.

Re: Lake Trout Action After Dark or Before Daylight
Have never tried ice fishing for lakers at night but I have caught a couple in the summer casting from shore. A cottage I go to has a dock that is within casting distance to a very steep trough. We sometimes cast spoons out there at night while have a few beverages. Have hit a few good ones over the...

Re: May Fishing for Lake Trout
Long Schooner and Round Schooner north of Plevna have lakers and have all-year laker seasons. They are camping sites though (mostly boat-in). No cabins/cottages to rent.

I third the motion. Make noise and kick up thickets and branches. They're not going to move if not spooked and their white fur makes it hard for you to see them while still.

Re: 2015 Deer season - Rut reports
My group of four got skunked out near Toledo. Deer were feeding at night and the warm weather and rain didn't help. They were bedded down and couldn't get them to move even with the dogs. Going to have to hope for more luck with the black powder.

Re: NOCO Genius GEN 3 Battery Charger from Canadian Tire?
I bought as NOCO G7200 to charge my trolling motor battery. Have used it for about two years and I am very pleased with it. This is not the same product you're looking for but I have heard nothing but good things about NOCO products and my own experience attests to the quality of their products. As ...

Re: duck blind etiquette
Thanks for all the replies. I anticipated it would be a controversial topic and I wasn't mistaken! I think I will be working on my boat blind and/or getting some portable contraption/burlap combo. Also, at the beginning of the season at least, there's a lot of foliage to sit under so a structure may...

duck blind etiquette
I am going to be hunting for ducks and geese in the Mississippi Lake and River area this fall. Haven't hunted there before. Is it generally accepted that if you find a blind it's the owner's for opening day only and after that it's fair game (first come first served)? That's what I've heard the etiq...
