Looking for a good flipping rod - Suggestions?

So, the rod I was using for my flipping stick is really bush league. It's a heavy 7'6" Abu vendetta. I spent a lot on my equipment but cheaped out on my flipping stick. Big mistake. It severely lacks sensitivity and frankly it really bummed me out that my flipping game is going to be total bunk...

Re: Fluorocarbon and Fluorocarbon leader material??

Sorry, I erred in my previous post - that is the knot for tying your flouro leader to your bait/hook. I realize that is not the same as tying to your braid mainline. I used the wrong terminology but what I said I think still applies. If you want an easy knot for tying braid to your leader, try these...

Re: Fluorocarbon and Fluorocarbon leader material??

I was just talking about flouro leader vs straight flouro with plowjock. Yesterday on the Big Rideau I broke of three times. I had purchased sunline flouro leader and started to use that instead of maxima flouro leader. I had also used seaguar trout and steelhad leader. I broke off three times. Nev...

Re: SPL- Soft Plastic Lures

We keep all our crap in the boat ... including Maverick's cigarette butts and my plastic cigarillo tips. However, the odd sandwich and apple cores go overboard. Ripped plastics usually stays on board. It's discarded in the recycle bin. You can always find one or two empty Tim Horton cups on the Mis...

Re: SPL- Soft Plastic Lures

I might get hit on the head for saying this, but I think it is irrefutable that these baits are not good for the ecosystem or the fish that are ingesting them. As said, some species are more susceptible than others. For me personally, there really is no debate on this - It's a simple fact that We ar...

Re: New spots, new species, same old Ottawa River

LMAO - Had to google that one, and absolutely it looks like the same fish I caught - and this is why I should always be taking my camera on the water with me (duhhhh.) I thought it was a "blue walleye" that I have heard about but never caught. Now I wonder how many of those are just Sauger...

Re: New spots, new species, same old Ottawa River

Just wanted to acknowledge some good advice from Yannick sent via PM helped me this past weekend on the Ottawa River. Definitely grateful for the tips and as usual Yannick's advice was "as good as gold" for those O.R. Walleye. Thank you, Yannick. It was surprising to me that I never had an...

Re: New spots, new species, same old Ottawa River

Hello Fish-Hawkers. I'm heading out onto the East Ottawa portion of the river tomorrow and again on Sunday probably, any suggestions for general areas to target for Walleye? Bass are my specialty, I don't target walleye on the Ottawa very often. I'm looking at Blair road near the islands, Petrie Isl...

Re: Bucketmouth VS Bronzeback

6 am pre sunrise.jpg I grew up catching monster LM in the Kawartha Lake systems, and honestly it wasn't until I moved to Eastern Ontario and got into some of the stronger Smallmouth lakes that I truly fell in love with that species of bass. A largie, he is a pig - he is going to eat your bait no ma...

Re: Ottawa Kayaking 2015 - Let's Organize

I am going to include Float Tubers just because I want to see you out bobbing around in the Ottawa River... I want to get something organized out on the water in late June or early July, not too sure what the format will be, this will depend on interest. Keep PM'ing me, I have already heard from num...
