For weather I always use Accuweather. I find it to be a very reliable source. Looking at the long term temp forecast, I'll stick with what I said before and I'll go Jan 14th earliest, Jan. 21 latest to set up the hut. Hopefully we don't gat a dump of snow to delay things...

As for the ice being ready its been pretty consistent. 3 yrs ago we set up on Jan 4, 2 yrs ago Jan 3 and last season not until Jan 22 but we were not ready to set up when the ice was ready. I'll wag...

We had a short season last year (hut was out for less than a month) but without a doubt, the best ice season we have had! I used to work in North Kanata so it was easy to pop by and check stuff out. Depending on if we get a reply or not, I'll try and stop by next weekend.

Hi Bigcvin. I would recommend that you build skies into the floor structure. Our's are made from 10x2's. Much easier to move the hut around and all u have to do to prevent your hut from freezing into the ice is jack it up and put 4 - 2 foot pieces of 2x4 under the skies at each corner. We actually u...
