Re: Saltwater holiday fishing report! Part 1
Did you manage to bring any home? Nope. I know that I mentioned to you that I was going to, but the legal size in Mass is 28 inches. By the time I caught the first one over the size limit my bad left arm was already toast and the thought of hauling that hefty a fish, my tackle and a rod across all ...

Re: Saltwater holiday fishing report! Part 3
And finally before we left I convinced my twelve year old to wake up early for the effort and he was rewarded with 5 fish plus one that a seal ripped off his line about 10 feet from shore... Scared the bleep out of us. Here he is with two of his best (note: I had to do the casting because of the siz...

Saltwater holiday fishing report! Part 1
For those who have read my posts, you know that my true fushing "love" is surfcasting for Stripers or Blues. For the past 11 years my family has vacationed in beautiful Cape Cod for two weeks each summer and once my kids were a little older, the surfcasting bug bit me. Now, each day on my ...

Wish I could have made it out! Looks like you guys had a blast.
BTW. It is really cruel to have a video that doesn't show the outcome... Kind of like losing a fish without seeing it! Were they cats?

Re: Shore fishing
Cool! I have tried sight fishing gar this year and so far I have had 16 hits and not one hookset. All were from shore and unfortunately I rarely had good position.
I think I may switch to night bait fishing which serms ti be a good way to start but there goes more coin...

Hot weather = Cold fishing!
I have not had much opportunity to fish for other than brief periods (less than 1 hour) in the past few weeks and I am still shorebound although I hope to change that this Friday. I have tried to go to some of my surefire spots and I will echo the sentiment I have seen in several posts... tough fish...

Awesome! Glad you got the picture... I wish I had. It is one species on the do not catch list that the MNR likes to have a photo of.
Finally got mine reported... Was yours tagged?

When you catch your fish do you catch the big one last?
Do you reel it really slowly or do you crank it in quite fast? Blatent "Smarties" ad rip-off but related to my post. I have been shorebound for a number of weeks due to a torn rotator cuff. I slid down a river bank and tried to grab on to a branch... Bad idea. So I cannot get my new ride o...

Re: The Kids Are Alright
Way to go kids!! Perhaps it is time for you to hang up the rod and make way for the next generation.... NOT!
Nothing like familial competition to make you step up your game and it is always worth being a "tackle caddie" when the kids are on the fish!
