Re: trout stocking

If we are talking Lakers, I think we are pretty lucky to have a lake trout fishery at all in eastern On, we are one of the most southern areas in NA to have a natural reproduction lake trout. And I think it is managed effectively, a handful of lakes that dont have sustainable natural reproduction ar...

Re: ice fishing technique

Well there are a million different tips or tricks depending on the situation but it would be nothing that you couldnt find reading up on icefishing, watching vids etc And since you are asking about this in Oct Iam guessing you are serious about it and have done lots of research. Two things that have...

Re: Can't figure out the Fall pattern!

Hasn't even started yet, once then temp is in the 58-62 range for multiple days everything heats up. This weekend the temp on the lake I was fishing was 64 and air temp was 78 I fished like it was summer and was pulling fish from under docks with senkos.

Re: Drop-shotting: Two techniques, one outcome (SUCCESS)

I havent tried Power shoting yet but do a fair bit of regular dropshoting. I like a ML rod with extra fast action, 6'6 to 6'8. 10lb braid with 6 or 8lb flouro leader. I also really like the VMC spinshot usually 1/O but will use a size 2 smaller bass, walleye or panfish, huge reduction in line twist ...

Re: Deep water bass

Save the fish, and save yourself the headache of fizzing! Get some fish clips!!! I assume you mean these "Flip Clips". http://www.flipclipfishing.com/how_the_flipclip_works.html Looks like a good handy tool that every deep water bass fisherman should have in his box. Cheers looks like a g...

Re: Deep water bass

It's just a fact that most of those fish you catch in deep water are likely going to die if you don't fizz them, regardless of if you saw them swim away or not. Yup! True if you are keeping them at surface atmosphere for extended periods of time, I.e taking a bunch of pictures or putting in the liv...

Re: Do you EAT Bass? Just curious...

I generally don't because they are too much fun to catch, but iam not opposed to it and usually keep a few throughout the year to eat especially if iam on a lake where there are no pike walleye etc. Bass taste fantastic, some of the whitest meat you will find and most of the lakes I fish they are pl...

Re: No more lifetime warranty on new Shimano rods

I suspect if they are spending they money to take the warranty back in house there will be a lot more scrutiny on what they cover, it will probably be true manufacturer defects instead of a free for all. Just to bring this thread full circle since iam the one who started the discussion... I bought a...

Re: Fish-Hawk member rigs

I helped Princecraft design the Pro198 about 12 years ago. This one, my 5th, has about 200 man-hours of extra rigging and customization to make her mine. She is also the last one made, I sure am gonna miss her!!! Back to the drawing board for next year. http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l62/fishsbc...

Re: No more lifetime warranty on new Shimano rods

Hi Ed Sorry for the generalization I wasn't implying all dealers were guilty of this, I was speaking of obvious situation like the example that was provided with the 10 rods. And no these shops don't make money for the rod transaction but they get the benefit of a customer who will spend money in th...

Re: No more lifetime warranty on new Shimano rods

That's what happens when too many customers want a rod replacement because they slam a door on their rod and the company replaces it no questions asked. It's supposed to be for manufacturing defects. I've read somewhere that some have returned to a store with 10 broken rod tips within a week of the...

No more lifetime warranty on new Shimano rods

Saw this on another site that as of Aug 1st Shimano discontinued their Limited life time OTC warranty replacing it with a 1 yr. It's a little disappointing but I guess if there is truly a defect in the rod it should show up within a year. I suspect most manufacturers will soon follow suit

Re: I'm done with CTC

There probably are a number of CTC stories everyone can tell that will make your blood boil but Iam not sure this one is that big of a deal. (from a corporate policy perspective) They have a product that has half the shelf life of normal doesnt means they need to give you a 50% discount on it. They ...
