Re: Jigs - line options
110% agree with Ed. I never use a Flouro lead when flipping. I use a Flouro lead for drop shot, senko, maybe skipping a tube under dock but mainly will use a lighter braid in that circumstance for accuracy, and quick hook sets. As Ed mentioned, the shock from a quick hook set will more than likely n...

Re: Jigs - line options
Interesting question/thread. I can only offer what I would do, and know everyone has a preference, or idea, so I don't think there is a wrong answer, which there is not, only preference, and what works for whoever is using what works for them. I differ from you on both scenarios: For "Heavy cov...

Re: Morrow Lake Access - Or Whities
I olny fished Bob's Lake a few times, and we surely caught whities. This was many years ago, and our access was from a friends cottage. We used mainly buckshot spoons tipped with a minnow head, for all of our set lines were dormant until dusk where the eye's moved in. I'm not sure of conditions, but...

Re: Anyone interested in carp fishing at Hog's Back?
That's exactly where I was referring to. There is a small bay on "The top side" of the falls. To the right of the small boat launch. Try the slack water closer to shore, but don't limit to staying close to shore. The swing bridge I've never had any luck at all. Though, you can walk the can...

Re: Anyone interested in carp fishing at Hog's Back?
If your looking in that area, stay "Above" Not where the water drains, but on the higher side "South" The rowing club will be to the west. I've done well years ago fishing for them where the old "Hogs Back Marina" was. Try different things also. I used to get them casti...

Re: Rideau River Pickrel
The 416 bridge has held em in the past. Try jigging a minnow or soft plastic, and evening hours are probably better. Though with the shade of the bridge daytime you can more than likely get them. I'm none to sure of that stretch from a boat, but from shore, right below tho "Old Mill" I've ...

Glad it all worked out! I'm thinking of a new custom "Float Rod" for later this year. I'll certainly be in touch!

Re: It's walleye time!
Yeah- great story, thanks for your input pal. Where else but on a clicky local website will people defend others taking pics of ALL the out of season walleyes he managed to hook laid out perfectly beside the promotional rod :P ?? MNR lads would have a good laugh watching that from shore. Are you def...

Re: It's walleye time!
ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!! Luckily, many years ago I was the one to begin this "OOS" picture thread. He clearly stated, he was was "NOT targeting the "Eye's" and if I had a "Hot Perch, or Crappie" Spot, I'd make one more cast as well. You cannot predict the bite, and if i...

Storing my boat and Transducer?
Hey gang, I bought a small unit for my "Jon Boat" 2 years ago. The unit is portable, but I am wondering for this end season storing at the end of this year. I mounted the transducer to my boat, worked just fine. I removed it for the winter. My boat stays outside (It's a 10' aluminum) I am ...

Re: Bait cast reels
lape0019 is 100% correct. I agree, if you spend a bit more you get it back 10 fold. Not that a cheaper budget reel will not do the trick, nor would I say go spend 400$ on a reel. Quality is key, and that being said, it will make the transition a lot easier, and a reel that you wished you might have ...
