Re: Drying an Insulated Pop-up

That's a real bummer. I had two backups due to my aged 40 year old septic system two summers back and it cost me $25K to replace. Hopefully yours is just a plugged up pipe that can be cleaned out. Seeing as it came back up through the basement drain it must be between the house and the road. That's ...

Re: New to the area

Fish On-line would be a great place for you to start. You can search by species or waterbody. It has topographic and imagery layers as well as depths in some lakes. https://www.lioapplications.lrc.gov.on.ca/fishonline/Index.html?viewer=FishONLine.FishONLine&locale=en-CA Cheers and welcome to the...

Re: Ice Fishing Tips & Tricks

Salt your dead minnows. I cover them in kosher salt and let the dry out until they're crispy. Then I cut them in half and use them on spoons like Swedish pimple or Buckshots. No wasted minnows and, for me anyways, they seem to work as good or better than live ones. I would agree with the salting pa...

Brittania Bait

I was just in contact with Serge and it will be business as usual this season for minnows. Same arrangements as past years. Phone ahead and arrange a pick up time with Serge or his wife Lynn. For those new to the forum his cell# is 791-7435

Re: Shirley's Bay 2023 Ice season

Saw a pic on 613 showing Shirley's with ice. Looked like the boulders were moved. This snow on Friday will definitely slow down ice making though.

Re: Rideau river waterfowl hunting

Above all first check the local regs before anything. Then look for feeding bays and shallow waters for all the dabblers. Back in the day some buds had a blind up past Pirate Cove in that shallow area before the Kemptville creek. Who knows if that's legal anymore.

Re: Constance Lake

What's the guy who has no right to charge to launch charging these days? Not his launch but hints he'll call bylaw if you don't pay him for parking. Nice. He's well within his rights, it's been like that forever. He can't charge for launching but does for parking on the property he owns. It's a fir...

Re: Madawaska River Clay bank boat launch

I know they nailed a couple of older guys from East of Ottawa doing all the thefts out that way a couple of years back after setting up a sting operation with GPS transmitters at Eagles Nest parking lot. Don't recall hearing about any last year but regardless make sure to lock things up tight and ou...

Re: looking for tips on catching rainbow or brook trout in Outaouais

I'm talking like 30 years back at least but we used to drive up that way past Cantley and fish a creek for Brookies. You could access it off a couple of side roads and one spot off the highway through some bush. Just a hook and worm or small single blade spinner and worm. Took me while to find it on...

So just to clarify the launch I'm referring to is the main public launch at that little park, not the PP, my bad.

Launch Closed

Just a word of warning and to save a wasted drive. Due to staffing shortages and lack of funds with Frontenac for maintenance at Silver Lake PP, in their infinite wisdom they have closed the park and barricaded the public launch. One person decided to bypass the barrier and somehow got caught and wa...
