I agree with slowwing the trolling speed in fall, in summer, between casting, I would troll quickly at 5 mph. I used a GPS to fine tune the speed, but it does not have to be exact. I think the theory on the fast speed is to get the musky to strike, much like a human catchs an egg. It works on its in...

I too have spent many hours. In the Kawarthas I would use a mini down rigger and get crank baits down to the 20' range and it seemed to get regualr hits in mid summer. I also sort of fish bass style, but with bigger baits, but much more aggressive then for bass. With top water baits keep throwing it...

That is incredible, I could see someone with Scuba gear really have a good time teasing these guys, but with that kind of cash up for grabs. Iam thinking of going to a few tournaments out on Lake Simcoe. I don;t think it is as bad as that.

I fished with the kids in the exact spot where that photo was taken. We also were able to get at least one to two fish per kid over about a hour. Was lots of fun. I will try the other side of the road as well, thanks for the tip. But I would also suggest Blacks Rapids off the Prince of Wales. Go belo...

Hey viper those links were great. Being a newbie myself can one for instance assume that, say if you are fishing for Pike, and the preferred water temp is like 16 C then matching those graphs on the chart suggest a very active time of year for fishing ?

Never heard of the "Other" unit, will have to look into this, but thanks for the heads up, now's the time to think, once the water is hard, time to act and live with what you got.

Polar Therm Extreme Tip Up, How to use it?

Ok I bought one of these things today a Lebarons, read the instructions and I am still a little confused. I can drop down the arm with the spool, I can set the flag, but how do you set the spool so it does not freely spin, if a larger fish hits it how do you slow down the run, and I will assume you ...

Gettng Ready to Ice Fish but ????

I think I am going to really give ice fishing a try this year. So far my plan includes the following: Going to concentrate on Constance Lake Manual Auger 6" (Brand?) since advice on this board suggets that this is large enough for even a large Pike to get through and easier to drill. Tip up(s) ...

Friend of mine built one a few years back, it worked OK but he had used a cheaper blue tarp to cover it, this caused a few problems, but other then that worked ok
