- Thin sheets of closed cell foam are available at the dollar store and serve as excellent "spacers" between lures to allow you to stack baits in compartments without fear of damage to the finishes.

- I would also encourage the use of hook bonnets to further ensure that the hook points don't scratch the baits and to eliminate tangles.

As others have communicated the house coverage as thrifty as it may seem is sometimes a false economy. Most people enjoy an almost a 30% claims free discount on their homeowners policies if they haven't had a claim in 3 -5 years. This is a huge discount and can often be equal to an actual marine rid...

Contrary to popular belief, buzzbaits are most effective when fished as slowly as possible. And like many reaction type baits especially spinnerbaits, buzzbaits are most frequently put into active duty in low light or overcast days when the fish are more apt to pull away from cover and roam. Subsequ...

Calcutta has been the gold standard for muskie anglers since their inception. Certainly if you're looking for very specific tools as you build your arsenal then you may consider the Tranx for burning big Cowgirls or possibly the Tekota 700LC for pure trolling applications. But as your 1-tool do-all,...

Shawn, Blue and yellow camping mattress is closed cell foam. Been using it for padding boat decks since the early 90's, works great. Home Depots also sells a closed cell foam underpad for carpets. It's ridged with a texture but would also work fine. I used it under the carpet which I laid in the bed...

There is no comparison. I have been running Talons for the past 3 years and I will be making the switch to Power Poles. The number of times they have failed in the down position has gotten ridiculous. How much fun is it to have to unbolt a heavy 8' aluminium mess and have your partner hold it as you...

That's great work, certainly will help a bunch of guys out. My only word of caution if I may be so bold. If you are seeking a starting battery then of course cranking amps is the critical number. That said be sure to compare appropriately. Temperature compensation will yield different results when m...

Could I keep the x4 unit there and mount the transducer of my HDI next to it ? I suppose you could however I don't really see the point given that the performance advantage of the Elite 7. It is unlikely that you will ever use the X4. The key to a transducer installation is to seek "clean"...

In the interests of a timely completion, I will keep this brief. The Elite 7 is an awesome unit and you will be extremely pleased. I will assume that you will be removing the X4 factory OEM unit. Might I suggest that you move this unit to the bow to provide sonar reference when your're fishing on th...
