Fall Pike feeding time (I think).

I just got back from a short stroll along the Ottawa and I was tossing a spinnerbait and I landed two in pretty short order. I am pretty sure they are now in fall feeding mode. In both cases they absolutely hammered the lure... None of that bump and turn stuff. The second fish was not huge (maybe 30...

Re: Shore fishing in Ottawa

I have been tossing spinner baits and shallow cranks along the Ottawa River parkway after work (you requested west of downtown) and the smallmouth are definitely active right now near the shore. This activity will go up and down with the temperature changes but the fall feed seems to be on. Just pi...

Re: if its true..

I am on their mailing list and I just realized that it was all the stores closing. Always feel bad when a store closes except for Target.... Felt really, really bad for the staff but I was seriously pee pee off that they eliminated Zellers. I digress, Le Barons had one thing that I will miss more th...

Re: Cabelas... Whatchya Think?

Cabelas, Sail, Bass-Pro... In the end I think the future us written. More and more, retail stores are places to try things on, see what things look and feel like and then the customer goes home and purchases the chosen product online at a cheaper price. Obviously there are a lot of hunting products ...

Really! That is sad. They were my go to store (plus about 10 minutes from my house). They serviced special orders like my big. spools of braid for saltwater and the staff was always helpful.

Shame

Fish-Hawk friends always come through!!

I have been really down since I returned from the ocean. Turns out that my shoulder injury is bad enough that only surgery will fix it and I am now in the lovely "suffer and take drugs" while you wait queue. Basically, wiped out my fishing plans with my new canoe and even shore fishing is ...

Re: Bike Fishing

Tons of people mod their bikes to go up and down along the Cape Cod Canal. Search Cape Cod Canal fishing bikes.

Here is one with a Nice bluefish and a striper. :D A bit overloaded but I would not complain!

I had a long response why that wouldn't work for me but I boiled it down to this. Nope! For me size matters! Yikes! That sounds bad.

The one that got away ...now that helped!

This post is about me feeling sorry for myself since I have been so lucky! I am so fortunate to have been able to fish for Stripers and Blues given how far from the ocean I live, but RJ was right... Those fish can definitely ruin you for other types. I was having my left arm checked this am which I ...

Re: Musky vs. Sheephead and a big walleye

Neat! Pre-tenderized sheepshead. How big do they get around here? I have fished for Drum in the StClair river in Sarnia when I was young and we had them up to 5 lbs if I remember correctly butI have never caught one in Ottawa. Always liked that drumming noise... i assume these ones do it as well? Rod

Indeed it does! I have fushed each and every one if those spots with lot's of success. And we certainly must rank way, way up there in terms of species variety within a 20 minute range.

Keep it up! The Ottawa shorelines are great!

Re: Fish Ingesting Soft Plastics

Yikes... I avoided this one for 24 hours but in the end I could not restrain myself. I have said this before and I will say it again... I am a fisherman . If you wish to cause no harm to fish, dont go fishing! That being said, here is a list of things you can do to help out the aquatic envronment an...
