Day 10 - Sunday morning worship was under an overcast ceiling in the cathedral of the north, -11 and another snow storm is due around lunch time. Don't have the right fittings for the RV pump so I've a pot warming on the stove and a sponge bath is on the todo list. No wildlife activity, the only mov...

Day 9 - Saturday morning - Sitting down to a plate of Ham & Eggs my weekly shot of cholesteral. The weather has passed and the skies are clear, temp hovering around -20 Celcius. Still have a water seepage issue- more mopping I guess at least for another day. Joe, there are many similarities to t...

Hey wishin, thanks for the heads up. There is air in all the lines for some reason. I'm limited with what I can do, without a sled I can't replenish what little supply I have. Took a look at the new pump and it has threaded fittings. The installed unit is a jury rigged slip fit. I'll check the tool ...

Day 8 - Up early, start shoveling the foot of snow that came down overnight. Drifting was too much to venture down the hill to the far wood shed, cheated and hauled a load from the main shed which is a level 100' pull, much easier. Boomer is much more enthusiatic in the snow than I am, 3 hours of ca...

Day 7 - Woke up this morning to a different landscape and a new set of problems. Blowing snow overnight drifted in all the trails, after clearing the immediate area I grabbed the sled sleigh and ventured down the hill for my daily load of wood - tugging that flat bottom back up the grade loaded with...

Day 6 - Earlier start this morning, it's warmed up -5 and only a trace of snow overnight. A front is definitely moving in, Boomer had his snout in the air facing the wind in anticipation, sensing the change. Mama moose and a yearling crossed the ice about a 1/2 mile from the camp, probably seeking b...

Day 5 and it's another dandy - at least until later this afternoon when the snow hits. Yesterday's venture out to the bay was a disaster - I started walking hauling the sleigh behind me following the packed trail, stopped where I quessed the dropoff to be and sank to my knees in powder as soon as i ...

Dan, I made the run in from Mt.St Michel in 3 1/2 hours the road is in great shape. Lots of trucks today - 2 hrs to Lunic but clear sailing after. At least 10 degrees colder up here but Rosie's roast chicken dinner is sitting well. Will test the ice on Monday - race weekend you know. I'll spray pain...

I may see the odd Indian from the reserve but as Tomcat stated I'll have the satellite phone on my hip all the time. Being alone, my only concern is some type of mishap that ends up in me facing a long walk back to the camp or hurting myself somehow - it's a 6 hour helo medi-vac to the nearest hospi...

While you folks are concentrating on all the local activity I'll be up at Nemio to keep Boomer "the dog" company. Ron & Rosie are heading out to do the Pittsburg show and the next two weeks for me will be spent doing a bit of snowmobiling and drilling a few holes, internet poker of cou...

Bradford, just to make myself perfectly clear - yes I wrote what I did. I did not imply I was laughing at anyone - I said the comment was laughable. Comparing unit costs of 8, 10 or 12 piece packaging to a bulk price is simple math - the smaller quantity grossed up is more expensive. You're right, t...

To be clear about this subject I fish plastics almost exclusively for walleye and have been doing so for a long time. My experimenting with them began in the early eighties and back then other than twister tails I was using those baits made for the bass market. I got a chance to try many different s...
