Never used a wire leader. Fluro leader when required.

Re: Help identifying fish species

Based on the lack of scales on the keel and the fact the fins are not very red I am leaning towards a golden shiner or a golden shiner x Rudd cross.

Fishing along Highway 60

Hi All, I will be spending some driving through algonquin park over the next couple of weeks and will have the opportunity to do some quick pit stops and do some fishing on or just off the highway. If anyone has any interesting spots or tips on any species I would appreciate it. As many of you know ...

Re: The Value of Large Walleye

All documents aside...... I would release those big walleyes regardless---just Because I believe the 3-5 lb fish taste better The fish in the 8-10 lb range are a little too coarse for me Now if I fished all day and only caught one bigger one--I'm sure keeping it would not have much impact on the fi...

Re: Any tips for beginners?

Worm on a bobber or worm on the bottom are the easiest ways to get into fish.

Other suggestions are good but will not get you on fish right away.

Re: Should I talk to those person or people

Getting directly involved can be a risk... You'll have to use your judgement and to see if people are just not aware of the regulations or breaking them.

If in doubt stay safe.

If you have an opportunity to do so call the Ministry Hotline : 1-877-TIPS MNR (1-877-847-7667)

First solid spring outing

I went out to one of my favorite spots this morning. I hit it each spring. I love the species mix I get at this spot so it worse the hassle. Under a bridge down a steep path being attacked by mosquitoes non stop for 3 hours. Slipping and sliding on the slippery clay banks. If you don't hit this spot...

Re: WTB: Beginner 5 wt fly reel

Thanks.... I managed to find a reel on special... The rod is an egal claw travel rod ( https://www.cabelas.ca/product/47059/eagle-claw-trailmaster-travel-spinfly-rod ). Short @ 7ft but the rod converts from spin mode to fly mode. I did not pick up the rod for that feature (I just needed a pack rod) ...
