Any of you guys remember the Cod?

I like fishing as much as the next guy, BUT, a little fishing control 25 years ago might have savee the cod. I hope you all realize that the cod populations will never come back!!!! Hope we never say the same thing about walleye, muskie etc.......

Looking for electric motor advice!!!!

Hey guys and gals. I managed to lose my electric motor from my 19.5' Legend boat this fall. Don't ash how it got to the bottom of the Ottawa River. Was no good anyway. The requriements are: 1) 80 lb thrust. 2) EASILY raised and lowered (big problem with the lost MINN KOTA) 3) can be easily removed f...

Just missed you!

I got back from a beautiful day muskie fishing on the Ottawa and turned in early, got up and came to the office. I could easily have taken the day to go back out. I raised three really nice fish (possibly one fish twice) but they were playing with me, missing the surface lure each time right near th...

Pike or Muskie

Were you fishing in the Madawaska River? The small muskie have those colours in the Madawaska. They stay that colour up to 10 lbs or so.

Real pretty eh!

Top water - leaders etc

Hey Gotta love that topwater pike/muskie action. I use 65 lb fluorocarbon and tie it on with a "non slip loop know" http://www.netknots.com/html/non_slip.html If you don't know how to tie one this sight will walk you through it. You will bet much better action and results than using a heav...

Well, lets just complicate things. I posted a poor quality picture of a 6+ smallie and only got 50% believing it was over 5 lbs. What I did not indicate it that I am 6'4" and 290. That might put the fish into perspective. Applying that to these two pictures. If your friend is 8' tall and 500 lb...

Sturgeon Fishing!!!!

Hi folks Does anyone know anything about fishing for Sturgeon in the Ottawa River. There used to be a commerical fishery in the Ottawa and I know there are still some in there. For those of you who fish the Madawaska, there are some huge sturgeon in the Headpond. Many years ago before Hydro fenced o...

Oops - here we go again

For those of you who remember, I got into hot water last year for asking if it was OK to post a picture of a 6 lb smallie that was caught while pike fishing, one week before the Quebec bass season opened. The fish was immediately returned, but a picture was taken. I learned my lesson. As luck would ...

To Lead or Not to Lead...........as in leader!

How many of you use wire leaders for pike/walleye/muskie and how many don't. I am a convert to using Flurocarbon leaders in the 20 -40 lb range and attaching directly to a lure with the "Rapala Knot" This rig gives the best possible lure motion along with an invisible line. In all honesty ...

Out of season pics.

Oh my God. What a can of worms I opened. Since I opened the subject, let me close it and protect my reputation. Picture was taken by third person in the boat as we frantically tried to return the muskie to the water. No delay. As for the large muskie that had been attacked, it was returned immediate...

Found the Muskie...but where are the walleye?

Hi folks I just joined and thought I should send in a report. On opening weekend i went to the Madawaska head pond to try for some of the lunker walleye that I find once in a while. Not a walleye to be found. Not a single walleye was seen by anyone............but I caught three muskie over the weeke...
