I have some thoughts. I don't mind LeBarons at all and hae that they are moving from just around the corner. I consider myself quite knowlegable in fishing and generally don't need the assistance of someone when I am going in to buy a lure or line; I know what I want. If I was going to buy a GPS or ...

... well everyone that is except you MH; cause I'm always wrong... I think that if I took off on the atv I might pull them into an inch of water. This is one of those select cases; if the CO was there and I was not and they saw my line was in an inch of water with three feet of ice they would give y...

I don't use superlines myself and cannot comment. Berkley Sensation 8lb. on my spinning; casts pretty good. Iron Silk 12lb / 17lb. on my baitcaster; used for trolling; more rigid then Seasation and suspect it is not the best for casting. You are going to have yourself a nice combo there at around $3...

Ice fishing law?
I am not sure if I asked this before and realize I should actually ask a CO but... Sometimes; to save killing minnows and for speed or if we go for a 4 wheeler tour away from our lines I will reel them up or put them on the tip up so they are just a few inches from the top of the hole. Is this illeg...

Wannafish, I saw some pictures that you posted. I know the bay where you fish; it is covered from the sun; there is a chance that you may be ok to fish it but it is hard to say. It is going up to 16 this week and not getting cold at night. With a little luck you may find ice that will hold you. We w...

I'm going out this weekend. I hope you are wrong about the ice though  ; Supposed to be warm and not going below 0 this week. I will bring the auger just in case but hopefully it stays on the bike. The little bay you guys fish is sheltered enough that you may be able to ice fish...only time wil...

Paul, Found this link which may help. It mentions another for casting but says it is respectable. Says it's more of a flippin' reel. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwaviento.html Looks like an excellant quality reel. A 7 foot rod will get you out further but the shorter rod may benefit you if you...

The spinning reels I have are Daiwa Kastor and Caprice. They cast well, retrieve well as you want. What I find more important to casting distince is not the brand of equiptment rather than the set up. A longer rod will cast further than shorter rod. Secondly, light line will cast better than heavy l...

WannaFish, I don't think ice fishing will be do-able next weekend and I am skeptical of being able to boat. We went out on the ice on 3 lakes and when you sorta jumped (with leaving the ground) I would slightly feel the ice bouncing. There is still 6 inches of ice but it is supposed to warm. Your br...
