Re: bow mount trolling motor

As long as the breaker/fuse is rated for what the motor requires, it really doesn't matter what you use.

I installed the breaker in my old boat and it worked perfectly.

Re: bow mount trolling motor

You can wire direct but make sure you have a breaker on the positive side. I preferred being able to unplug my motor for charging purposes but turning off the breaker does the same thing. My current motor is wired direct and has a little box with posts to attach the leads on the TM to the wiring in ...

Re: trolling motor battery life

Truth is, you won't know until you try. The way you plan on using the TM will have more impact on how long it will last than what any of these charts can tell you. I know there are a few people who have a similar setup so you will hopefully hear from them. Depending on how you use it, it could last ...

Re: Rideau River

For walleye, stay closer to the channel. For pike and musky, I have caught them both while targeting bass in anything from right beside the channel to about 4fow. As for the launches, the better ones have been mentioned. I think I have used Muldoon once and its a bit tricky. Reevecraig as stated is ...

Re: New gear you want to try

Nice! For me, - I bought the Grinch but haven't tried it yet. - Sold off a different reel than expected and a rod and bough the MGL. I am thoroughly impressed with it. Basically it is just as smooth as the Calcutta Conquest in a Low Profile design. I may have to get another one down the road. - Foun...

Re: On Board Charger 2 bank

Totally missed it was 4 amps per bank.

That will be a long charge. I was thinking it was 8amps ber bank. I had a charger that was 4amps per bank and it would not charge the batteries fully overnight. Get something bigger.

If there is, it will not be a large event as all of the larger ones are listed in the calendar on the main page here.

Re: On Board Charger 2 bank

10amp will get the job done in about 4 hours. a 8amp will be a little slower.

Personally, I prefer MK chargers but also like the Dual Pro ones. I have never run a Noco but if the price is right, I would be willing to try.

Re: Bass season on White Lake?

Looking at the map of FMZ 18, you can see that the boundaries between 18 and 15 go around most of white lake. This puts it in bounds for FMZ 18 which opens on the 3 Saturday in June This weekend!). The confusion revolves around the lake essentially being on the border and showing up in both maps but...

Re: Any tips for beginners?

It all depends on what you are fishing for.

My kids fish with worms or minnows for panfish. We use imitation plastic for bass as well as a lot of lures.

Start with a Senko, tube and maybe a spinnerbait. Colours I like are white and green pumpkin.

Re: Way to use?

I’d list on kijiji.

But since Toronto is an area you want to target, Ontariofishingcommunity.com has a good following and a good classified section.

Re: Sourcing Crestliner Parts

That's actually a great recommendation Norm. I would assume a good portion of the cost could be associated to shipping/brokerage charges. If you could find a marina close enough to the border that you could go pick up the console, you may be able to save some money after declaring duties to make it ...

Re: Helix 7 DI/GPS cutting out when I start engine

The only thing that I can come up with is that the unit needs 12.2 volts to function properly (This comes from the manual). If having the unit plugged it (even though off) creates more load on the battery, after cranking, you may not have 12.2 volts. If you unplug the unit and let the battery rest f...

Re: Sourcing Crestliner Parts

unfortunately, short of finding someone willing to sell their, you don't have many options.

Call a few crestliner dealers and see if you can get it cheaper but that sounds like a fair price for something like that. I know they can be up to double that for bass boats.

Re: Helix 7 DI/GPS cutting out when I start engine

I believe River Monster hit the nail on the head. You can bring the battery in to be load tested but it sounds to me like the issue you are having has nothing to do with the Helix and everything to do with you not having enough voltage heading to the unit while cranking the motor. Most marinas will ...
