Stainless???
MS1: Curious why you would want to use stainless anything on a dock. :? We have over 3 miles of dock at the National Park I work at. All hardware is galvanized. No problems- even with some 50 year-old docks that get heavy use all season long. Galvanized hardware will outlast any Pt wood, cedar, etc....

Thanks for the info, McQ. That explains why the field is so small. I believe the BASS Elite series has the pro weighing in a max. five fish and the am weighing in three. That way the ams are fishing directly against the other ams and not using the total boat weight. I guess there are pro's and cons ...

Different system!
Way to go, Sheldon!
Those walleye guys use a different system, I see.
The am gets the pro's weight too?
Is a 60 boat field a full field for these events?
CCB- (knows very little about this trail obviously )

Nice fish!
That's a nice smallie.
At 20" with a good girth, it should run about 4 1/2 lbs, possibly a tad more.
Congrats on the new PB.

Way to go Rich!
A great way to start the season.
And, yes, it's definitely a warmouth. You're right at the edge of their range.

Nice fish!
Great fish and a great report, Wolfe!
But,
But,
But,
I just gotta set the record straight
Those "gills" look suspiciously like pumpkinseeds to me.
Tom
PS I will be sending you some photos soon, hopefully a rescue story that turns out peachy.

Any outfitter or any business renting boats normally has insurance on their boats. You might be responsible for the deductible, though, depending on the rental contract. If there was no contract covering possible damage to the boat/motor, I wouldn't be paying him anything. In your case, I don't blam...

Mike:
Mike: I always carry a cheap pair of cables in the boat. If the cranking battery ever were to die, all I would have to do is connect the cables to boost from one of the TM batteries and get the big motor running. Then disconnect the cables when I get to where I want to fish and use the TM. When it's...

Yeppers!
Pooz: I have witnessed something similar three times in the past 6-7 years. Pike swimming along with their entire head out of the water. :? Two of them actually were clacking their jaws together. Creepy. No evidence of a lure or anything stuck in their throats seen, but that may have been the cause,...

Kingston Kids' Derby Report
Despite constant showers, the Kingston Kids' Derby, held yesterday, was well attended. Hundreds of kids, shoulder to shoulder, trying to catch perch, rockies, and ??? Here's my four year old nephew, who sat for 3 1/2 hours, without a bite, but confident that the big one was coming along any second. ...

Curious, guys. What law exactly are you referring to? In our government boats we are not allowed to tow in a disabled vessel- there are liability issues at stake here. Of course, we would not abandon people in a life-threatening situation, and always radio for a private marina to assist if that is r...

Huh?
Over the years I've seen several walleye in the 6-9 pound range (well, at least 8 or 9) caught in the shallow pads on bass jigs- mainly in the area of the Provincial Park.
Lots of excitement in less than two feet of water!

Nope!
Fortunately, there is no indication that the Ottawa is experiencing a muskie die-off. The fish you saw may have died as the result of inproper handling when caught as incidentals, or from natural causes. Any dead muskie, though, can provide valuable info. to researchers. The cleithrum (equivalent of...
