Re: A quick question about the biggest catfish

An interesting / related sidebar note...
Channel Catfish are very slow growing in our area.
A 5lb channel cat can be 20+ years old.

Re: Fish finder mount on a Princecraft side console.

My finder in the pic is a 5" screen, if that helps at all.
RAM mount would be great if you have the budget for it.

Re: Fish finder mount on a Princecraft side console.

This is my Princecraft 165SC Pro, swivel mount, can view the screen from front or back. Seems to work OK. I attached the base via screws through holes in the console, threaded into a plate of UHMW underneath to distribute the load without cracking the console when skipping over boat wakes etc. https...

Re: MILLE LACS

This thread seems a bit of a moving target... There are still some big walleye in Big Rideau lake, but tough to find. Some in Lower Rideau as well. Upper Rideau, into Wolfe, seems to be the most consistent, but not a great fishery either. South of Newboro, the Cataraqui watershed, only occasio...

Re: 2018 - Lakers & Eyes on ice

Thanks folks, Smitty - I'm not one to push products, but since you asked, the reel I picked up is an Eagle Claw Magnum Inline. Seems to work ok but only time will tell if the nylon frame holds up. Valley lakes - several 3lb "popsicles" this season were from Muskrat, I fished it one cold da...

Re: ICE......it WAS nice.....

St Lawrence is wide open. Occasional isolated 6" thick ice floes drifting along shore in the current.
Anyone interested in firing up their boat early this year, still have a month left for late season / pre-spawn pike.

2018 - Lakers & Eyes on ice

A good season... caught a decent number of fish across a few outings, several different lakes to mix things up a bit. Mostly targeted lake trout, but a few walleye as well. Lakers are a personal favourite through the ice, and they cooperated, some smaller 3s, some nice 6-9s and ... a few biguns came...

Re: Ice Warning for Bath/Lake Ontario

What do you mean expensive? I don't think there's a charge for a rescue. Least where I live FD don't charge for services. It is my understanding that charges are at the discretion of the FD. (Check with Rob B ;)) Typically if someone causes a fire due to negligence, or a rescue because they were a ...
