Re: Stocked brook trout report
I have used the on line search site quite a bit over the past few years. One thing I've discovered is that it appears the vast majority of lakes the Ministry stocks with brook trout cannot be reached on foot. No ATV = no fishing for brookies. pee pee me off. There are some exceptions but not that ma...

transducer rooster tail
I had a Humminbird system installed on my Legend boat last summer. Didn't really notice at the time but the transducer causes a rooster tail plume of water to fly up and hit the side of my motor cover. No water gets in, the cover is nice and tight. But surely the rooster tail can't be normal. Any su...

Re: Salmon from Shore
I'm equally amazed and delighted to see members offering other members specific information about catching fish. It seems to me that on the few occasions I've asked others for help that my request has been ignored. As a result I became a little jaded about this forum over time when it appeared that ...

Re: MNR stocking private lakes?
topten14, thanks for the 2 maps. It appears that I can walk into Penyck off the road on the left where it gets very close to the water. I'm pretty sure the FishOnLine site still shows brook trout being stocked. Where does it say they are putting rainbows in now?

Re: MNR stocking private lakes?
Thanks Smitty. That's what I expected too, so I was surprised when the other website showed both lakes surrounded by privately owned land. I can't seem to find the "How to get there" link. Could you be more specific about where it is?

MNR stocking private lakes?
I was using the MNR Crown Land Atlas website to find out where I could get into two lakes stocked by the Ministry. One is Little Round Lake on Road 509 near Sharbot Lake and the other is Pennick Lake, further up Rd 509. Both lakes are entirely surrounded by private land. There is no obvious public a...

Re: Name This fish
The Clyde river is full of them. The MNR claims they stock the river with trout, but fallfish and bass are all I've ever caught.

Rhino RSC2 reel
I have an older Zebco spinning reel with the above model number. I can't seem to get the drag to work. An email to the Zebco website resulted in them emailing me a useless schematic of the reel which does not show the drag assembly. THANK YOU Zebco!!! Does anyone in this group own the same reel? If ...

Brookies near Sharbot Lake
I'm hoping to do some fishing for brookies over the summer in the zone from Napanee to Sharbot Lake. I don't mind walking a modest distance from where I can park my car but I can't be hiking in 2 kms on foot. I'm looking for recommendations for good fishing spots that are reasonably easy to get to. ...

Re: Shore Fishing in Ottawa
I went there once and never got a bite the whole morning. Not my idea of a good time. But I realize that there are no guarantees when it comes to fishing. Learned that lesson while fishing for trout in any number of places over the years.

portable fish finders
I'm thinking about buying a portable unit to take to some of those lakes the MNR stocks with trout. I've had no luck fishing for brookies the past couple of years and I thought I'd improve my odds. There are a number of units on EBay including makes I've never heard of such as 100M, HawkEye and Luck...

transducer issues
I bought a Humminbird sonar in early August at the Canadian Tire in Kingston. A boat dealer in town installed it. It worked fine for 4 weeks. I was inspecting the transducer cable yesterday and noted that it had been damaged. It's frayed about an inch above the transducer. I contacted the dealer and...

Re: Mississippi
Me and a fishing buddy launched near the restaurant down Lake Park Rd a few years back and headed south. Had a great time. Fish everywhere. Never fished the zone you are targeting though. Let us know how you did.
