Re: Ottawa and Nearby Fishing Shore fishing
If you want to get out for a quick fish, and beat the heat, the rapids at Champlain Bridge on the Ontario side produce many Smallies - I've had 50-70 fish days an afternoon easy. Many small ones though. You have to wade out to knee deep and be steady on your feet. Note - if you wade for a long time,...

Re: NEEDS HELP!!!!
I shore fished the Ottawa area for many years and still do, even though I have a boat as well. Lots of places to try, some are dry from land and other you should wade. On the Rideau. Wading down from strathcona park to Cummings island at Montreal Rd. Good for bass. Robinson Field, Rideau River, you ...

Burbot
Downrigging for lakers on Big Rideau, pulled up this burbot, my first ever. Had no clue what to do with it so it went back into the lake. Good fight, lots of pull, I thought I had a monster laker on for a few exciting minutes. Some guy was trolling by and witnessed the catch. In your head, you see t...

Blog post on where that lake came from and the fish they put into it.
No data on access but if roadside, I suspect you can get on it and it would be worth a try.

Re: Magnet Fishing Calabogie crown land
You'll be wanting lakes with easy access...
Tooeys Lake and Lower Twin lake, Hwy 41.
Both drive to and easy access and parking so could be lots of junk in there to find.
If you find a Mepps #2 in lower twin, it's mine but you can keep it

Re: Rideau River Spots
Rideau river is great. I've fished it pretty much anywhere I can get access. For shore spots with trees, I use a spinning rod. Otherwise, fly rod works too (if not too windy) Upstream from Montreal Rd/River Rd. Cummings Island downstream from strathcona park. You can wade to the island from the east...

Re: Rideau Lakes area Walleye
Don't despair, you're also 2 hrs from the Bay Of Quinte. That should handle your big walleye fix. With bit of a drive 30-60 min depending on where in the area you start I've fished Mississippi Lake, as well as Calabogie and upstream reservoirs from there for walleye. Me, I get my walleye fix downtow...

Re: Grand Lake - Carcajou Bay - Algonquin Park
Thats a nice part of the lake. There is a site on the left after going through the narrows, has a big sunning and swimming rock you can take in the afternoon sun. Did some of my best napping there a few years back. Recommended. Its been a few years but advice anyhow. Fishing can be tough in Algonqui...

Re: Lake Trout
Good suggestions. I fish Big Rideau and while spring is good, mid-summer heat is my fav, slow troll, music, feet up steering the boat from the passenger seat watching the fish finder and downrigger rod for hits.... best relaxing days ever. Fish from the narrows westward ... Some good spots around th...

Gouin Reservoir - we like http://www.nemio.com/ Been there many times - we used to fly in, but now now the roads reach the lake so we go to Nemio . Early season is great in the river, as millions of fish work their way out after the spawn. Each neck down point becomes good spot. Easy drive, even tho...
