Re: Shirley's Bay 2024 Ice season
, I've got a feeling ill be trying either straight out from the ramp, or to the left side tomorrow. Does anyone find luck in the shallower water (5'-7'), even if its mostly perch? Curious to know if it's worth trying or if its better to fish the 7'-8' for the time being? Thx CCLad.
Tim Che...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2024 Ice season
I always get a good chuckle from this one Hey Smitty, hope you are doing well! Maybe that video clip can explain the number of rods we've lost in the hut - (getting pulled down the hole before you could put a finger on it) over the year...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2024 Ice season
Should be making good ice over the next week, good cold night time temps and no snow for the most part.

Never caught either on Shirleys and have always stayed until well after dark and never had Crappies come in late into the bay.

Re: Charleston Lake
My friend is renting a cottage on Charleston Lake he has been there since Labour Day weekend, so far biggest fish only around 2 pounds. I went out with him after work the other day for a couple hours, we focussed on offshore humps, including the 2 Big Waters rock structures smitty mentioned we caug...

Re: Charleston Lake
I suggest you fish the two Big Water rocks, that is Babcock's and Englishman's rock. Both are high rising rocks coming out of deep water close to the surface and sometimes breaking the surface. Fish there will more associated with the pelagic baitfish species in big water and therefore are more likel...

Re: Lac Dumont
Assuming that's the same Lac Dumont I'm thinking of, be aware that it is only open for fishing for a limited period of 2 or 3 weeks, or at least that's the way it used to be. It has giant Pike in it, which is kind of strange considering its a broodstock lake for Lake Trout.

Re: opeongo algonquin labour day
First thing I do even when going to a lake I know is to find the depth of 50° water and start from there. Things might be a bit different if the thermocline has broken up though by Labour Day. I saw some temperature probes on Amazon with several feet of wire then a display unit. Is that how you fin...

I know where I'd be headed to for sure. That's a beauty hump that comes up from 40ft to close to the surface just to the right of your yellow circle. Navionics actually shows a rock hazard.
