Re: Gajo baits is now Online
They look good. Like any other plastic, it's usually how confident you are to use them in certain situations. But 25$ for shipping a 6$ bag....?

I sure wish 2 lines were legal... I would always have a sucker quik strike below the boat while musky fishing... Would sure take the pressure off getting the figure 8 right.

Re: Ice and fishing at James Island on Rideau near Osgoode
Not sure of the bite, but I was passed there last weekend and there were LOTS of trucks, sleds, dirt bikes and people out there. I would say lots of ice and looked like a fun time even if the fish don't cooperate.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Beginner Tips
Any rod and reel will do to get out. Always have extra line and or spools. Tangles happen alot. Embrace them. To start, go cheap and then upgrade. Having 2 combos helps with keeping line in the water when one is tangled. And read the Regs. Memorize the regs or carry a copy...because if you are fishi...

Re: Favourite/Most Productive Baits
Spinnerbaits. I can run em on the surface, mid depth, drag bottom, or jig. Weighted hook swimbaits... For the same reasons. And I had good luck the last few years with the WhoDat rattling spinner spoon, as a search bait when others weren't producing. All these have caught me bass, pike, walleye and ...

Re: Deer Sign
That a good buck. I hope to check the cams on Sunday... So far, the weather has been almost ideal. I haven't seen the usual deer in fields along local roadways like some years of past, but lets hope they stay in the woods.

Re: Algonquin park
Up by madawaska, there is the Shall lake access. Ryan lake has produced splake for me in the past and is a nice trip in. Just about anywhere in the park is worth it, but the deeper you go, the better the fishing.
I have never been, but O'Neill lake has good fishing, but I am unsure of access.

Very cool.
Pretty amazing that the deer survived a bullet wound. In the area I hunt, the coyotes woulda never stopped until that deer was dinner.

I spent alot of money and time at LeBarons over the years. Sad to see it go...but
Ildogg summed it up exactly. Eventually times change and businesses need to follow.

Re: Deer Sign
Only does on the trail cams in 63. No doe tags there though.
Was able to do a bit of scouting while partridge hunting in 55a, and found 2 new small scrapes where dominant scrapes were last year. Movement might be starting a bit more north.
Will be checking the cams again in 2 Weeks.

Re: Back in the "other game" - Meat Processing
Looks awesome. I always tend to OVER smoke whatever I do. Do you go by a general rule for amount of smoke vs cook time? If it's a cold smoke like Smitty says... How much before it is too much and then does cooking in the oven end up overdoing it. I do like figuring it out on my own, but info is good...
