vexilar

Hi Everyone : I went ice fishing with someone who had a vexilar. I had a good laugh when I could see the fish approach a small jig. We had caught numerous fish by changing presentations based on the "approach" that the fish had according to the vexilar readout. My question is : I want to p...

walleye last night

I was out fishing on a lake near Perth last night. I caught 2 walleye in the 3-4 lb range (24 inches +). I never had much luck ice fishing until I got some tips from someone at LeBaron in Ottawa. He said that using small glow jigs tipped with a piece of minnow(for walleye) is the best presentation f...

palmerston lake

Hi Everyone :

I will be going ice fishing on Palmerston in early March. What is the season for Lake Trout fishing ? Is it open at that time ? Has anyone had any luck catching perch and lake trout ?

I should mention one more thing. The Tay River does hold walleye at some spots year round. I caught a really nice one(24 inches!) at the bridge at Jordan's(fast moving water which is 7-9 feet deep with rocky bottom) around 10 PM one October night in 2006. I fished there a couple of times until I fou...

I can tell you that at Christie Lake, there is open water over quite a large area in the bay near the bridge at the Tay River(Jordan's). I've never ice fished Christie Lake, so what kind of gear are you using and how are you obtaining access to the ice(do you know someone with a cottage with good wi...

Hi :

I'm not being denied access in the winter. These summer launch points are either in fast moving water (which does not freeze in the winter) or are too far away from good ice fishing points....

ice fishing in Perth, Ontario

Hi Everyone : During the summer and fall months, I fish in Christie and Bennett Lakes near Perth, Ontario. I practice catch and release. The real challenge for me is trying to catch walleye. I pay for access to these lakes in summer. If the ice gets thick enough to be safe, I will be attempting to i...
