Hawk Talk Code of Conduct

By registering for the Hawk Talk Angling Forums, registrants agree to abide by the code of conduct set herein, and acknowledge that they have read and understood the guidlines we have established.

Forums will be moderated according to the guidelines that we have put in place in order to maintain a clean, respectable, and informative vehicle for information exchange. "Bending" of the rules will be considered the same as "Breaking" the rules, and does not help us one little bit.

Fish-Hawk.Net has implemented a "ZERO TOLERANCE" policy, which simply means that any users that post garbage in the form of pornography or pictures of questionable taste, or make un-substantiated accusations and disrespects towards another person in any way, will immediately have their accounts disabled and/or removed from Fish-Hawk.Net. Further to this policy, any person who has the misfortune of viewing such posts, and responds to such posts with support and/or further comments, will be subject to review, and their accounts will also be disabled and/or removed, pending the outcome of this review.

The views expressed in these forums are strictly the views of the individual posters and not those of the administration of Fish-Hawk.Net, except where directly posted by that administration, and are limited to those particular administrators who have made those posts.

1.0 Respect for People

1.1 Users of Hawk Talk will respect others and apply common courtesy while using Hawk Talk.

1.2 Defamatory comments directed at individuals or businesses are not permitted.

1.3 Post which may be considered humorous by some, but offensive by others, may be moderated if.....
  • a) they are offensive and/or inappropriate as deemed by the moderators
    b) they are identified as directly or indirectly offending the character of other people.
    c) they are perceived to be posts which have the potential of offending others.
1.4 Messages will not contain any racial or stereotypical comments aimed at people or groups of people, either directly or indirectly. If there is any question whether a message may be construed as offensive in any way, the administration of this board will act at their discretion, and it may be subject to editing or deletion.

1.5 NEW POLICY: The Fish-Hawk Code of Conduct now applies to the Private Messaging feature of this board. Any reports from members who have received inappropriate and dis-respective messages via the Private Message feature will immediately have their PM priviledges revoked. To have them re-instated, they will be required to directly send me an e-mail requesting re-instatement of the PM feature and I'll make that decision based on their response to the action that was taken against them.

2.0 Respect for Opinions

2.1 Posts to this forum by users who are against fishing as a sport or recreational past-time will be considered off-topic and be moderated.

2.2 Healthy conversation and debate is encouraged, however threads which balloon into more than conversation and debate will be moderated in order to ensure things don't get out of hand, and other rules are not broken.

2.3 The Hawk Talk Angling Forums are place for constructive discussion. Complaints, Flaming, or simply stirring up crap, with the obvious, or not so obvious intent to discredit any person, business, or this site itself, will be simply removed. Fish-Hawk.Net is not the stage for this type of behaviour, and will not facilitate it. Please deal with this type of conflict in another means.

3.0 Respect for the Work of Others

3.1 Members of this site will be asked to respect the work done by others to provide useful content and information. Posts eluding to disrespect, either directly or indirectly will be moderated.

4.0 Self-Promotion

4.1 Businesses and their owners, staff, pro-staff, or affiliates are asked to refrain from posting messages of an advertising or promotional nature on Fish-Hawk.Net without the expressed written consent of Fish-Hawk.Net.

4.2 A discussion of angling products, services, and vendors is permitted in Hawk Talk as long as the discussion remains an exchange of information that is not promotional in nature and is between users that have no affiliation with the products, services or vendors being mentioned, with the exception of Fish-Hawk.Net "Authorized Partner". Authorized Partners are permitted to respond to user posts, as long as that response is related to the original topic of conversation. Further discussion is to be made within the forum of the Authorized Partner, or taken off-line through some other means.

4.3 Avatars of Hawk Talk participants are not to contain promotional messages or business logos, without the expressed written consent of Fish-Hawk.Net.

4.4 The occasional special mention of "Thanks" in reports, stories, or simple "on topic" posts, for a member who retains Sponsorship from another company, will be allowed to some degree at the discretion of the moderators, provided that member does not take advantage of this priviledge by promoting their own business upon which they realize financial gain from. We have <a href="http://www.fish-hawk.net/index.php?page=15">Advertising Options</a> for that!

This is not personal.....just business. We thank you for your respect.

New rules will be added as required in order to keep the peace and promote positive, informative messages, without derrogatory content, and respectful of those businesses that help keep Fish-Hawk.Net going.

For any further questions, please contact either Fishhawk or Bobber.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Added section 4.4 to address Sponsorship mention and minimize members taking advantage of this priviledge.
