Minnkota Trolling Motor Mount

Here is a inexpensive way to make an electric trolling motor mount. I did not have enough room beside the Outboard to put the Minnkota, so I came up with this cheap and solid way. I used a corner dock bracket from Rona and zinc bolts and nuts. The bracket is already Galvanized so no rust. Very solid, I extended the 2 layers of 3/4 inch plywood down about an inch or so below the level of the gunnels to provide more support should the bracket be pulled back on.

Works well... all for 9$.

FatRap -

This is a great idea that might work well for my little 12 footer. Question:

- I see you've mounted it on your port side. This is ideal to have the motor out of your way when running on the gas engine. How do you find steering the electric? Do you find that you can easily reach it, and do you have to slide over closer to it? I have stationary seats so shifting my location is a problem.

- Losing use of the handle on the boat will be an issue for me since I don't yet have a trailer and I'm always lugging my boat off my car roof.
