Hey all,

Ever been fishing in your fishtrap on those rainy days? Putting the fishtrap away soaked up from the rain and only to come back the next day to go fishing to find out that you now have ice everywhere on your shanty?

Here's a little tip that will hopefully help in this situation...

Did a little bit a reasearch on what to use and what not to use on fishtraps... came up with Kiwi Camp Dry, a silicone based spray that will make your fishtrap a waterproof machine. I was worried that it wouldnt let the frabric breathe.

Came up directly from Camp Dry's website:
"KIWI Camp Dry heavy duty water repellent spray provides long-lasting protection while allowing leathers, canvas and nylon to breathe. The spray contains a high level of silicone for optimum protection and is odorless when dry."

So what the heck, I tried it and here are the results..

That was only with 2 brief coats of camp dry, recommended is 3 coats.

In the can there's 60 square feet of silicone spray.

Its up to you to decide where you want to put it and how many coats you want to put. Im putting 3 coats on the top of the hut and if theres any left I will do the rest.

Got it at Independent for 10 bucks

good tip.

i had the same issue last season when it snowed, the snow would melt because of the heat of my heater, and seep through the material.

going to give it a try!!

Thanks for the tip Nodie - I'll give it a try on mine. It looks like this might also be good stuff for my boat cover.

I tried this on my buddy's old portable shelter last night, with the heavy rain we got this product seem to works very well. Only cost us around $6 per can. We only applied two coats.

Did you have to order it or can we buy that locally??

You could get it at Wal-mart. I got mine in the summer at the camping section.
