The same set up and excuse all the time..."I'm fishing for pike"...bs...like I said before if you are in an area fishing with bass tackle and getting oos bass then move..if you don't then you are breaking the law.

When I go pike fishing I don't hit bass beds and I certainly don't flip for them, too bad they don't have a volunteer CO program because I would target these pathetic losers and fine the crap out of them....

Well i'm not about to start confronting people out fishing on the water etc etc.........

I can appreciate that...with all the eagles and fine looking birds I have seen on the river I don't blame you...perhaps experiencing some folks poaching birds might bring it into perspective...

Anyway I'm not into running around trying to find oos fishers but when I do see it ,,,,,it burns my butt

matt without tarfetting you and trying to get you mad.

when your fishing for pike on the ottowa.

and im not talking flipping here.

how are you supposed to '' just target pike''

when they hang out in the same erea ?

i mean im not going to start trolling in 20 -25 FOW all day .

im not going to catch JACK.

bass and pike hang in 3 - 15 FOW.

your saying when you start to get them move away.

ok ill move to another bay where it will be the same thing.

bass beds are everywhere on the ottowa.

theres no escaping them.

I will try to explain my point of view the best I can.

I don't fish pike on the Ottawa until after Muskie opener so that I don't get incidental Muskie catches...that's just my choice.
I do however fish pike on lakes that don't hold muskie and Mississippi lake is just one I like to go get some hammer handles for a fun day outing.
When I do fish the Miss I know the areas that hold high concentrations of spawning bass and I don't go near them..the areas imo are very easy to tell apart.
I have listened to stories of guys catching 50" muskies on the Ottawa and all kinds of oos bass during "PIKE" season and it makes me sick....This will probably not be a popular opinion but I think pike season should coincide with muskie and maybe even push muskie back a week to open with bass.. this way all the POS oos anglers will have no excuse to target whatever, whenever they want.
I don't think this should apply to all zones but if you think about it some areas have special concerns.
Just my opinion!!

seems like you got his boat number in that photo...Would he get harassed at all by the mnr if you sent them that photo and dated it? Something to atleast make him aware that others are aware.

Looks like he is sporting a hummingbird to me.

Frankly I'm not all that concerned with what you wrote before or after you edited your own post. I commented that he appears to be targeting bass because, well, he does.
