how long did each fish get fought for? Tails are pretty stressed, did they swim away?

Great job keeping them alive.

Quite a few people making comments about fish mortality lately.

We are fishing. Not trapping. We are putting their lives in danger and we know full well that it could end the life of any fish we catch. That being said, most of us do all we can to make sure the fish can swim away and live.

But sometimes they don't. Sometimes we eat them.

So what?

Examin pics and make your assumptions about the health of the fish... but keep the comments about your perceived knowledge of the health of a given fish to yourself.

Just so you know, in QC, we can have a musky, bass, sturgeon BBQ and it would be none of your damned business.

To say that people have no right to discuss fish mortality in 2015 is a slap in the face to any angler who prides themselves on respecting our waters.

With all due respect, People have every right to be concerned about fish mortality, especially on prized fish like these Muskie. It is 2015, not 1980, we have tonnes of scientific knowledge about the impact of handling fish and the stresses it creates on the fish, and the tails on the musky were red and that indicates extreme stress.

Look at all the talk about using fizzy pop to help protect bleeding fish. That's a GOOD thing, not a bad thing...

What surprised me is that you would actually admonish anyone who would indicate a concern towards the health of a fish - isn't that the kind of responsible conservation and respect for fish that we should actually be promoting?

Given this, there is nothing wrong with being concerned about Fish Mortality, and it doesn't mean nobody can have a fish fry - there is a happy medium that you are fully obscuring with your comment.

You have ZERO right to comment about what someone did with their fish or make veiled criticisms about someone taking the time to photograph, author and post a report about his day fishing.

We want people to post reports without worrying about being constantly questioned and criticized about who they are holding the fish or what they legally choose to do with it.

This is one of the major reasons people don't want to post a report.

Leave them alone. Stand on your soap box somewhere else.

Start another thread about what you think is the proper handling techniques or whatever you believe. Leave the poster alone.

That's a little misleading as far as Muskie goes. There's still a 54" limit on most of the Ottawa River on both sides of the border, not to many of those being caught out there, so you may want to keep those BBQ pics to yourself.

I for one am glad she swam away and that the angler took the time to insure she did. Good on him for having the ethics and values some seem to lack in this day and age.

Again great fish and congrats on the fish of a lifetime.

Agreed!!! The musky out of The Gatineau and our lakes taste MUCH better than anything out of The O.
