The Renegade Bass Tournament Association has now been serving Eastern Ontario for seventeen years. We are a Federally recognized Not For Profit Association that annually promotes and produces Canadas leading Live Release Bass Fishing Series. Each season as we mature and continue to evolve we seek new challenges to strengthen our association. Paramount amongst our endeavors is the development of future competitive anglers. This has been the primary goal of the Renegade Bass Steve Lee Memorial Pro-Am event since it''s inception in 2002. We have dedicated this tournament to the memory of Steve Lee, a tremendously successful Renegade member (since inception) who was always the first to share information with his fellow competitors or anyone else who shared his passion for fishing. Steve Lee left us too early following a courageous battle with lung cancer several years ago.

On Saturday August 10th, Renegade Bass will hosts its 12th Pro-Am tournament on the Ottawa River launching out of Braeside. The Pro-Am is an event which we are extremely proud of and serves as a seed for competitive angling hopefuls. This tournament is quite different when compared to conventional Pro-Am formats in that the objective of the association is to introduce competitive fishing to new anglers and to heighten their skills through assistance from their "Pro" (Renegade Bass Anglers). The Pros donate their day, boat, equipment and fuel to take out a new angler in an effort of showing them the excitement of competitive live-release bass fishing. The prize structure is exclusive to the amateurs which ensures that these new prospects enjoy all of the fruits of our sponsors. This also ensures that the Pros are fixated on teaching their amateurs rather than competing themselves. The pros who do donate their day (despite the absence of prizes or money for them) is a wonderful testament to their genuine desire to encourage and educate a new group of competitive anglers.

Along with a day on the water with a Pro, all competing amateur participants receive prize packages from our series sponsors. As this is a competition, top placing amateurs will also receive additional prizes over and above what each participant receives. Past participants have raved about their experience and the value they received for this event, encouraging fellow anglers to sign-up the following year.

There has always been a waiting list for this incredible event with a limit of 30 competitors so we encourage you to sign up quickly. Many of our past Pro-Am competitors, both men and women have joined us through a gift from a loved one as it is a popular gift for the anglers in the family.

@mcwalleye We look forward to seeing you in next years event.

Just to be clear in case it wasn't in the initial post, Amateurs in the event don't need to provide a boat. All they need to do is bring a few rods & reels and tackle. The idea is the Pro will provide the ride and help put the amateur on fish as well as learn new techniques. Pairings are done randomly so there is no need to sign-up with a Pro. We often call this an 'instructional tournament' as it gives amateurs an idea of what competing in a tournament is all about. For those looking to get into tournament fishing in the near future, this is a great event to start with and learn what is it all about.
