Ottawa Valley South Bass masters

Post by OVSB »

Ottawa Valley South Bassmasters consists of a group of anglers who are enthusiastic about fishing. The Chapter membership ranges from the beginner to the seasoned professional angler, and the young, to the young at heart. We hold monthly meetings from October to May, and at our meetings, we conduct Chapter general business, discussions on upcoming Chapter projects and community activities, and as well provide presentations on various fishing techniques to the Chapter members. During the annual bass season, the OVSB conducts a "members only" tournaments series, consisting of five events using the BASS Federation boater/co-angler format, in pursuit of determining the OVSB Angler of the Year recipient. The boater/co-angler pairing are different for each tournament. The boat pairing for each tournament is determined by a draw before the first tournament and you will not fish with the same member twice in the same year.

This format will afford every member the opportunity to gain real on the water exposure to many different bass angling techniques and decrease the overall learning curve in your pursuit in bass angling.

Potential new members are encouraged to attend the off season meetings from October to May to get more information. Interested new members must attend at least two meetings in order to be eligible for membership and as per our Chapter bylaw, they must be voted in by the current membership.

A full copy of the Chapter bylaws will be made available upon joining. If a new member decides to join between October to December, they will not be considered a full member until the following calendar year but can participate in the meetings if they choose to. They will be eligible to vote on any club business once they become a full member.

***** Currently accepting new members *****

Membership in Bassmasters is a rewarding and educational experience. With the monthly off season meetings and summer tournaments, there is much to learn and much to teach. Interested members are encouraged to attend one of the monthly meetings for more information. See below for our meeting dates and location.

We'd like to thank everyone for attending last nights meeting, we had Just Fishing's very own "Big" Jim as a guest speaker and what a blast that was.

Great information concerning the sport of fishing and sponsors from THE man himself.

Thanks again Jim!

Great group of guys and gals with the OVSB. I fished this circuit in 2014 and made lots of new friends. A single second place finish in the early season covered all the costs I had for this club for the entire season, as well... how sweet is that?

Many veterans anglers from across Eastern Ontario call this club home and are friendly even in competition, and have taken the time to share many a secret on the water with me. Great group, great guys, great times all around. Would highly recommend this club to any new anglers in the area looking to get out on the water more and learn about tournament fishing.

Oh yeah, and if you win you are getting paid to fish. Hard to see the negatives here... you get to fish more, you get to meet amazingly skilled anglers, get to learn some new bodies of water... It's seriously all good!

Hi Fish-hawk Nation,

Saturday the 11th of July, our first Bass event is held on Madawaska head pond.

How much will it take to win?
Last year it took a little over 15 pound to win, Frank Ramsey and his co angler Sam Cudmore won that event and seeing as Frank is still in the club, I think he'll be a pretty darn good contender !

I'll update Monday with the results or find us on Facabook or Twitter.

Thanks
