18th annual?? For some reason it seems longer ago for the 3 years I went to that derby. I assume it's the same one. Back then it was based out of that bay north of the bridge at the end of Shoreline rd. Got last (25th) place one year with an eight pounder and won a Johnson jacket. The main priority was to get out far enough that you got into the current. Large goldens. One year we ended up with only three inches of ice by the time the afternoon wore on. Not the most comforting feeling as the ice wears out during the day. Open water not too far away got closer too. Yikes!

No idea how many participate anymore, or how they work the live release with such a large fishing area. Good to see its still only $10 after all the years.

Cheers
