Here is an important press release from RBT:
RBT & St.Regis Mohawk Tribal Police introduce youth to fishing

For the sixth straight year RBT is proud to support the Kid’s Fishing Event at the Akwesasne Mohawk Reserve across from Cornwall, Ontario. The event, Saturday May 27th is organized by Community Safety Officer PJ Burns of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police.

The fun and informative event starts off with some guests from NY Dept of Fisheries who will speak about the environment and invasive species and the NY Coast Guard will provide instruction on safe boating. There will also be a brief chat about drug and alcohol dependency. RBT Anglers will then talk fishing with the group.

RBT executive, Paul Shibata enjoys this unique event. “What we do is to assist in trying to get kids to focus their attention on fishing because once they catch a fish, they are hooked”.

After lunch at the community centre, the excitement builds as each child receives a rod, reel, tackle and life jacket to keep as they hop in the boats of RBT anglers and proceed to the St.Regis River for an afternoon of angling.

“It’s another way of giving back and creating a new generation of anglers”, says RBT President, Mike Vandenberg. RBT could always use a few more boats to participate. If you would like to help out, contact Paul Shibata at Paul.Shibata@sympatico.ca .
