That big boy might have just been passing through at the tail end of the rut, looking for one last lady friend. We saw the rut peak here a few days before that picture.
But if the coyotes, wolves and winter don't get him, you might be able to lure him back next year during the rut, even if his home territory is not right in your back yard.
