Duck 2010

Post by Out4trout »

We went out last week and marked our blinds for the opener.

We saw a number of small flocks grouping already, mostly teal and mallards- no doubt local birds, saw a pair of woodies as well.
Migrants should start coming in the next couple of weeks if the weather cools in N Ont/PQ.

Having a low flying flock "maverick" straight at your blind and laying the smackdown on the crazy flyers is an incredible rush.

Duck is one of my favourite hunts. Who else here hunts em?

I used to hunt ducks opening weekend every year. Haven't done it in a few years unfortunately. It's my favorite hunt in terms of action. Fast and furious. Lots of shooting... The smell of burnt gunpower lingering... man now I want to go....

I hunt them also, as for Canada's, hope to try Snow's one day.

Yeah! I've got a few outings already planned. Just hope I'll be quick enough on the draw to outwit them.

Only 23 more sleeps till the opener. It is without a doubt my favorite kind of hunting. Here is a picture of my rig.

The spot is scouted and posted for this year, Today I decided to redo the duck boat. I'm going to build a flip up blind, add some new seats, move the battery to the front to be able to go shallower.

I'll post a boat build in acouple of days to keep our minds busy till the openner.
