Great outings past weekend Goose'in

Post by Mr Twister »

Out both days during the long weekend as birds were very co-operative in some of our fields which made for great outings!
Need a some colder weather in the weeks to come to get the northerns a little more present around the area.

Get ready tender links"...........smoker!!!

Nice work...I would have gone for the easy ones behind you though...easier to hit but tough meat on them

So about your spread....Does anyone find that the comparison to the size of the spread vr's the flock coming in are proportionate?? Ie a big spread equals a big flock coming down??

Always thought about this but never had an answer
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

It sure helps come later in the season as they tend to group up and your calling better be spot on!!

Cheers

Not proportionate. I've had 80 bird flocks land in a 20 deke spread, but more often, a 10-20 bird flock landing in a 50 deke spread.

A bigger spread certainly does help bring more birds in. As Mr T said, during the later season when the flocks are wary, a bigger spread is of even more benefit to filling a limit.

If the decoy spread is smaller than the flock size, the flock will sometimes land away from the dekes, especially if the dekes are not in the middle of the field.
