Not sure who recognizes me from my beginner questions and newbie issues but I have been picking things up pretty quick and finally got out into the fields for my first goose hunt.

Did decide however to learn from pros so hired a guide.

Step 1: Get up at 2:30 am, shower, eat something, pack up.
Step 2: Drive.
Step 3: Got there an hour early (Damn google maps thinks I drive like a granny)
Step 4: Go hunting.

Here are some photos of myself and a friend. Managed our limits by 8:30 am.

I'm a little older and a little wiser now...

Still learning and not sure of the area around here so happy to get out with anyone!

I am going to be looking for some recipes and cooking methods for this meat. My buddy didn't want his so I've got enough for all winter

But you left the legs and thigh on the carcass. Those are also good eating, and real easy to remove.

I took a handful of them for a stew but didn't keep em all -- they didn't make the picture.

I do some photography on the side-- fun little hobby.

We were near Winchester, farmers corn field.

Craig-- you grow corn at all? Have any pesky geese?

Corn doesn't pay out here... with the number of bears, raccoons and lost drunk people... not many are growing corn around here. No money in it. Used to be corn fields from one end of the road I live on to the other as recently as 6 years ago.

Price to seed and harvest just isn't worth it anymore.

Those honking boys make stop overs on the river more than anywhere that I have seen.

ducks unlimited website has some good recipies,one for cajun legs and thighs looks really good.also try making jerky in your oven with the breasts..fantastic!

Josh and the guys from SLO are top notch, so you certainly made the right choice going with them first.

Personally, turn it into Jerky.

This was my first year goose hunting as well and I had a blast pardon the pun, lol. I was hunting over a pond and was thankful for the 6 I got. Next year I want to try some field hunting. I love goose jerky. Good job guys, nice picture too, looks like you all had alot of fun. Congats and enjoy.
