Yes Alexandria is in 65.

I think this spring hunt is a terrible idea. There are some more effective ways we could manage the small flock of snows using the area than opening up a spring hunt.

There is a huge problem. The snow geese have slowly been moving west for about 10 years now as they make the Arctic where they nest a wasteland with their guano. :(

Frank
I have heard that without e-callers it is pointless too. So how do you propose we educate the MNR?
H&S

I'm hoping...

I'm hoping we'll have a chance to express our concerns at the info session, but it's doubtable.

Out of context...

I'm not going to repost what I did there since it would be totally out of context...

The jist of my opinion is...

I don't care that they are opening a spring season (I absolutely love killing snows, and there is NOTHING I like to hunt more). On the other hand, I do care that as it is currently setup, it won't have any impact on the number of snows, while significantly increasing the overall hunting pressure in our little area.

Allow us to use e-callers in the fall, and the harvest will be excellent. Will we have an impact on the migration pattern, it's very unlikely. In the fall there is a healthy number of Juvinile geese, the birds are fresh off the tunra, and they have not yet been exposed to decoys, blinds, and guns.
At no point can you call snows dumb, but this is when they're the least weary.

I assure you, with snows any advantage you can get is a good one. In the spring the birds have been hunted all the way from texas, heading north using 3-4000 permanent fullbody spreads, ecallers, unplugged guns, and unlimited birds. There is a group of guys in the south that shot over 4000 in a month.

By the time they get to QC/ON these birds are as educated as can be, and though you will still kill a few birds, the numbers won't be nearly as good.

I have a snow goose spread of over 600 decoys, sitting on a very good field that was holding 4-5000 of them the night before, using mouth calls, and absolutely no birds would think about it.

Hopefully this clarifies my point of view.

Thanks Frank. I get what you're saying.

Good luck to you, and to everyone chasing these birds.
