My sons first hunt and deer

My oldest has finally turned 12 and passed his hunting course and PAL. I bought him a rifle for his B-Day and got him to shoot a bit. He is a good shot.

Anyways we got out this afternoon, it was cold. I was a little nervous that we wouldn't see anything because he moves around a lot. Got a pic when he was finally still.

We don't see anything but squirrels and a grouse until 5. He is beginning to get bored and hands me the gun to hold. A few minutes later he gets my attention as he sees a doe and fawn walking towards us and want the gun back for some reason. His eyes were the size of saucers. The deer keep walking but stop behind a couple trees just as the wind changes and blows right at them and they wind us and run away. He was so disappointed. But got his focus back on hunting. 15 minutes later I catch movement and catch a glimpse of white. I call a couple times on the fawn call and it starts coming towards us. then grunted a couple times. the deer freezes, I ask Liam if he can see the deer enough to hit it. He said yes so I told him to go for it. A couple seconds later he pulls the trigger. The deer jumped once and was down! Hugs and high fives followed. We checked out the deer then went back for out equipment on the way back to the deer I told him it was gone and must have run away. He was panicked lol.

Anyways thanks for listening to a proud dad. here are a few pics:

Proud Dad for sure!
Congratulations young lad!

That is one heck of first buck! Someone's teaching him right...

My boy is 6 months..... so I have a bit of a wait!
My nefews are getting close to hunting age and are pumped to go. Haven't had young blood in the deer camp in a while, so looking forward to that.

Way to go kid. Nice buck you got yourself. Nice teaching Dad and great picture. I like seeing pictures of kids in the bush rather than on the street.
Looks like son and dad make a good team. :D
My son is 22 mth old so still awhile for me to experience that. Great job guys.

Good hunting you two. And a nice buck to boot.

Remind your son than not all hunts are an hour or two long.
