I have a ITHACA XL900 semi shoot gun as I am having problems trying to remove my Operating Handle in order to clean my chamber?

Any tips as my other shoot guns they just pull off.

Thanks

That gun was made by SKB for Ithaca. (nice gun by the way!)
Here is a scematic.

Just a double check on the owers manual we're talking about the same gun.

I guess you know that the barrel only comes off when the bolt is closed rather than open....

I stole this from another website for a complete dissasembly:

Remove the barrel and forearm.
Slide the bolt forward while holding on to the operating handle, dont let it fly forward or you will damage the reciever.
Push the 2 pins out of the side of the reciever and drop out the trigger group.
Move the operating handle so it lines up with the groove underneat it and pull the handle out.
Slide the bolt and slide bars out, make a note on how everything ia arranged.
Remove the butt pad and the nut that holds the stock on and remove.
Remove the pin that holds the recoil spring and remove the spring, careful cause its under pressure.
Clean and lube every thing, dont forget the inside of the reciever. I could not get the magazine apart so I just flushed it out the best I could.
Assemble in reverse order.

Hey Pauly. My dad had one of those and if I remember correctly the proper way was to have a drink of rye...curse for about 30 minutes and then slam your head on the butt of the gun three times... not 2 times not 4. Then you need to run around the kitchen in a clockwise motion asking God to help you get that darn @%$! to come off. After all that you will need to throw the gun to the basement and leave it till next time.

Get the right tool for the job!!!
