Goose'in Saturday.....burrrrrr

Post by Mr Twister »

Managed to get out Saturday morning by Kemptville area as set up by 8:30am as only used 14 decoys and new short reed call.........5 Down!!!

High winds made for causious birds but very happy to call some in!

Rideau river by 416 this morning is about 90% frozen!!!

Birds will sure be moving south soon.

Hopefully 1 more hunt

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad

Looks like you had a good hunt. Ive been busy bowhunting, but it sure would be nice to get out for a fowl hunt. Good to see your having some luck. Thanks for the picture.

great photo... looks like a good hunt...

I think you said in another post you have a blind of some kind... can you elaborate on some of your gear?

Its not so much the blind but how you camo it to your surroundings is key!
Decoy placement a must, right amount of calling, flagging, location is a bonus.
I am amazed to know I can still pull some down late this season with 20 decoys last week and only 14 last saturday?
I always considered late season to be about big # of decoy groups"
Always learning is the leson here for me.........

way to put the hurt on those skyrats !! you will find its more about being were the birds want to be more than anything else this time of year. scouting were they are is the most important thing if you dont have large decoy spread to put out.
